CHAMPAIGN CENTRAL BOYS' BASKETBALL
Coach Scott Davis' Maroons (19-10) had four different double-figure scorers as the team dominated two Class 3A regional opponents, winning by 18 and 16 points. Corvon Butler had 30 points for the week. Also scoring at least 10 points in one of the games were Jordan Caroline, Clayton Jones and Xavier Martin. The defense contained the two foes to 33.7 percent accuracy.
FISHER BOYS' BASKETBALL
The Bunnies (17-15) reached the Class 1A super-sectional thanks to consistent scoring performances from seniors Dylan Chapman and Taw Fredrickson at the Schlarman Sectional. They each hit four three-pointers and had consecutive double-digit scoring games as the postseason winning streak for coach Ron Ragle's team reached four games.
UNITY BOYS' TRACK AND FIELD
The Rockets had winners in four of eight individual events at a non-scored, six-team indoor meet at the UI Armory. Cody Payne (triple jump), Jordan McLaughlin (55-meter hurdles), Micah Johnson (55 meters) and Kendal Eckert (800) were Unity athletes who were triumphant in their specialties. Teammates Scott Woodard and Doran Walsten ran 2-3 in the 1,600.
CENTENNIAL BOYS' BASKETBALL
The Chargers (13-17) won back-to-back games to reach the regional finals in Class 3A. After trailing for all but 41 seconds in the quarterfinals against Urbana, Centennial won on a late three-pointer by Taylen Alexander. One day later, the team knocked off top-seeded Rantoul on the Eagles' court, with Devin Carter leading four double-figure scorers.
