CHAMPAIGN — Former Centennial athlete Anthony Figueroa was introduced Thursday afternoon as the third St. Thomas More boys' basketball coach in the past three years. He replaces James Kinney Sr., who had replaced Todd Anderson.
The Sabers won a regional champioship in 2011 and were the regional runners-up in 2012 during an 18-10 season.
A guard, the 5-foot-11 Figueroa was an All-Area second-teamer as a senior in 1995 and set the Chargers' school-record for three-point field goal accuracy in a season (52.6 percent). Figueroa played collegiately at Chicago State. Last season, he was an assistant coach at his alma mater.
