Pekin man arrested on drug charges
URBANA — Police arrested a Pekin man after they found suspected marijuana, suspected Ecstasy, suspected cocaine and more than $2,000 cash on him in the underground parking garage at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.
Aaron Michael Kramer, 19, pleaded innocent on Monday to unlawful possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, manufacture and delivery of cocaine and possession of cannabis.
Judge Richard Klaus set Kramer's next court appearance for Jan. 29.
According to an Urbana police report, officers were walking through the parking garage at 10:30 p.m. Saturday because a show at a nearby nightclub had been noted for alleged nearby drug activity.
After police noticed suspicious activity in a car in the lot, they went over to speak to the three occupants.
Police said the car smelled like the odor of burned marijuana, and they noticed that Kramer was reaching for his pants pocket.
When officers patted down Kramer, they found a bag containing a little more than 1 gram (0.035 ounce) of suspected marijuana, some suspected Ecstasy pills, $2,200 cash and a bag containing 3.25 grams (0.11 ounce) of suspected cocaine.
