Athletes of the Week: Hasselbring and Wascher

Cole Hasselbring, Cissna Park, Senior, Basketball
Recently: A fourth-year varsity player and the team’s (11-5) top scorer this season, he hit a game-high 12 points in a win against Corn Belt power Prairie Central.
In his own words: “We have a lot of experience coming back, and that has helped us close out a lot of games in the fourth quarter. Right now we’re playing good basketball.”
I’m always texting ... my girlfriend, Alexis Johnson, and my friend, Beau Anderson.
I’m dying to see ... “Jack Reacher.”
I need concert tickets to ... Jason Aldean or Luke Bryan.
I’m driving ... a 1995 Honda Accord. Kicking it old school.
My first job ... Baling hay
In five years ... hopefully graduating college with a major in criminal justice and a minor in business. I want to be a state cop one day.
My first dunk ... was my freshman year against St. Thomas More.
Cissna Park is ... real down to earth.

Recently: Scored 56 points in two games, including the ones against Mahomet-Seymour that allowed her to break the school’s all-time girls’ scoring record. She now has 1,633 points. The previous mark was 1,596.
