The Blue Devils (18-5) moved into sole possession of first place in the Vermilion Valley Conference by upending the other unbeaten league entry, Westville, 51-41, behind a combined 30 points inside from Wilde Garowski and Austin Reinken.

WRESTLING

The Spartans (20-12) had finalists in four weight classes and finished with individual champions in three in a row — Austin Hedrick (152 pounds), Gunnar Meeker (160) and Austin Upton (170) — en route to team honors in their own 14-school Eastern Illinois Wrestling Classic.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

The Tribe (12-11), 4-10 early in the month, has won eight of its last nine games, including all three last week. Juniors Kristina Lee (21.0 average in her last nine games) and Leslee Chambers (17.0 average in her last seven games) have been the catalysts.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL
The 21-4 Conquering Riders hit 13 three-pointers (including four each by Adam Beachy and Austin Helmuth) in a win against Heritage Christian and had a solid effort from Isaiah Lowry (14 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, three steals and a block) in a win against La Salette.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

The Sabers (25-2) set their single-game scoring record in a 93-19 win against Salt Fork and followed with their best one-quarter scoring performance (34 points in the first) in an 86-30 triumph against Clifton Central behind junior Randa Harshbarger’s second career triple-double.
