Athletes of the Week: Donohue and McCoy

Ryan Donohue, Monticello, Senior, Basketball

Recently: Scored in double figures in both of the Sages’ Class 2A regional wins, hitting matching 14-point totals in the semifinals and the finals. Only squad member who has started all 27 games.

In his words: “This season, we’ve accomplished a lot that we haven’t in the past couple years. We’ve done a lot of great things.”

I’m always texting ... my girlfriend, Kennedy.

I’m driving ... a Pontiac Bonneville.

Movie I’m dying to see ... “Dark Skies”

I need concert tickets to ... Kid Cudi.

I wear No. 14 because ... I wanted to get 33 because that’s my number in football. But someone older than me picked that number, so I got stuck with 14.

Next year ... I’ll play football at Butler.

Could you play for Brad Stevens? That’d be crazy. If the chance comes up, I might try to walk on.

In five years ... I’ll go to med school.

My first job was ... detasseling.

Monticello is ... the best high school in the area.

Recently: Led the Sabers in scoring in five of their last six games and in rebounding in the final nine games. At state, put up team-high totals of 24 points and 14 rebounds in the semifinals and led Sabers with nine points and eight rebounds in the 2A state title game.

In her words: “It was very exciting; how excited my teammates were made me more excited.”

I’d love to be driving ... a Bentley.

I wear No. 23 because ... that’s what (Kentucky’s) Anthony Davis wore.

I learned to play basketball ... when I was 6 years old, at Upward. My dad (Tim) was my coach.

In five years ... I’ll play college basketball.

My long-term goal ... To own my own business, a recreation center

St. Thomas More is ... a very developed school that gets you ready for college.
