Gouard gets DACC job
DANVILLE — Danville native DaJuan Gouard, who spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Danville Area Community College, was named the head men’s basketball coach Thursday, replacing Mike Carpenter.
“I couldn’t be happier for DaJuan. He really deserves this opportunity. His hard work and loyalty are being rewarded, and I have no doubt he will take the program to an even higher level,” Carpenter said.
During Gouard’s three seasons as an assistant, the Jaguars won 68 games, two Mid-West Athletic Conference titles and a Region 24 championship. They also earned a spot at the NJCAA Division II tournament.
“We are very excited to have Coach Gouard take over our men’s basketball program. He has worked extremely hard as our top assistant and has been a key person in landing some very good basketball players here at DACC,” Jaguars athletic director Tim Bunton said.
Carpenter, who led DACC for the past seven seasons and guided the Jaguars to a 28-4 record last season, took the head coaching job at Wabash Valley.
