Teams of the Week: Clinton girls in spotlight

Four players scored in double figures in the semifinals (against Sullivan) and finals (against Central A&M), opponents the Maroons had previously lost to. Clinton (19-4) hit 20 three-pointers in three tourney wins, led by Jessica Scott (10) and Haley Toohill (six).

The fourth-ranked Class 1A Sages (23-0) won the Okaw Valley Conference dual-meet tourney and had six individuals win all five matches: Nick Tankersley (106), Logan Knisley (113), Dylan Knisley (152), Jacob Burton (160), Brendan Menacher (182) and Matt Baker (195).

The Tribe (14-8) picked up three wins in three days as the senior duo of Kristina Lee (86 points) and Leslee Chambers (51 points) combined to score 78 percent of the team’s points. Lee grabbed 34 rebounds and Chambers had three of the team’s four three-pointers.

The Knights (16-2) nailed 30 three-pointers (out of 72 field goals) in three games (10 treys by Tyler Schuring) while winning the Little Okaw Valley Conference tournament. In the finals, A-L/A-H beat Cerro Gordo/Bement by 15 points in a game it trailed 16-7 after a quarter.
