Friday's highlights: Michael, Spartans grab share of SVC title

In boys’ basketball

■ St. Joseph-Ogden 68, Momence 38. The Spartans clinched a share of the Sangamon Valley title, outscoring Momence 19-3 in the third period to pull out of reach in a road win. Nate Michael sank four three-pointers and scored a game-high 24 points for SJ-O. Teammate Tyler Harms finished with 11 points and five assists.

■ Mahomet-Seymour 63, Prairie Central 47. The Bulldogs bolted to a 37-15 halftime lead en route to a road win. Conner Diedrich had 22 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals for M-S. Ed Shafer led the Hawks with 13 points and eight rebounds.

■ Rantoul 72, Olympia 58. Tyrin White’s 14 points led a balanced attack that lifted the Eagles to a home victory. Johnny Jones added 13 points for the Eagles, who had 10 players contribute to the scoring.

■ Tuscola 60, Shelbyville 37. The Warriors took command in the second half behind Nick Bates, who scored 13 of his 20 points after halftime.

■ Westville 54, Oakwood 36. Jordan Romo scored 10 of his 14 points in the second half to help the Tigers pull away at home. Teammate Kyle Brazas scored a game-high 16 points. Parker Lee and Skyler Slade combined for 23 points for the Comets.

■ Iroquois West 60, Watseka 51. Leading by two points entering the fourth quarter, the Raiders took control with a 22-15 advantage in the final eight minutes to win on the road. Austin Zirkle shot 8 of 10 from the field and scored a game-high 23 points for IW. Austin Hasselbring produced a double-double (21 points, 11 rebounds) for Watseka.

■ LeRoy 71, Deer Creek-Mackinaw 44. Led by Cole Pliura’s 16 points, 10 Panthers scored in a home win. Matt Chastain (15) and Nick Aupperle (14) also scored in double figures for LeRoy.

■ Clifton Central 77, Cissna Park 64. Ben Jennings scored 20 points for the Timberwolves in a home defeat. Teammate Tyson Rogers (four threes) finished with 16 points.

■ Arcola 54, Atwood-Hammond 47. Kollin Seaman scored 13 of his 16 points in the first half to help the Purple Riders build a 38-17 lead en route to a home victory. Jordan Feagin scored 15 points and Jesse Ruff tallied 14 for the Rajahs.

■ Hoopeston Area 68, Schlarman 47. Brennan Crose racked up 26 points for the Cornjerkers in a road win. Gannon Hughes paced the Hilltoppers with 18 points.

■ Warrensburg-Latham 81, Monticello 67. The visiting Sages fell despite Nick Stokowski’s double-double (28 points, 11 rebounds) and Noah Freemon’s four three-pointers and 16 points.
