Tuesday's prep highlights: Raiders, Timberwolves advance in sectional semis

In girls’ basketball

Class 1A SECTIONALS

At Gilman

■ Cissna Park 54, Lexington 34. The Timberwolves put forth a commanding defensive display in securing the semifinal win. Cissna Park held Lexington without a point in the first quarter and took a 29-4 lead into halftime. Addison Stoller produced a game-high 21 points to spark Cissna Park. Madison Overbey contributed 13 points and Samantha Hasselbring chipped in eight points.

■ Iroquois West 50, Fisher 48. The host Raiders will face Cissna Park for the sectional title after holding on against the Bunnies. Grace Schroeder (12 points, 11 rebounds) sparked the Raiders, who also received 11 points from Skylar Small and 10 points from Ariel Medina. Sydney Blackwell made three three-pointers en route to 12 points for the Bunnies. Hannah Varner (12 points) and Caitlin Cole (nine points, 10 rebounds) also contributed for Fisher.

Class 2A SECTIONALS

At Casey

■ Mount Carmel 78, Sullivan 43. The Redskins (21-4) saw their season end in a semifinal loss.

Class 3A REGIONALS

At Champaign

■ Eisenhower 73, Urbana 25. The fifth-seeded Tigers fell behind 42-14 at halftime. Shelby Burgin led Urbana with nine points.
At Fairbury

■ Mahomet-Seymour 41, Rantoul 29. The fourth-seeded Bulldogs received a game-high 17 points from Maggie Schmidt in the quarterfinal win. Hannah Cargo scored a team-high 10 points for Rantoul.

NONTOURNAMENT

■ Arthur Okaw Christian 51, Danville First Baptist 27. Audrey Henningsen (11 points) and Amanda Franklin (10 points) sparked the Conquering Riders in a road win.

In boys’ basketball

■ Arcola 60, La Salette 41. The host Purple Riders rode 16 points from Kollin Seaman, along with 15 points apiece from Chase Strader and Austin Shafer, to a nonconference win.

■ Argenta-Oreana 75, Clinton 69. Keegan McHood surpassed 1,000 career points with a game-high 38 points. Jacob Overton sparked Clinton with 27 points.

■ Arthur-Lovington 65, Martinsville 23. Clayton Honn led the visiting Knights with 11 points.

■ Arthur Okaw Christian 74, Danville First Baptist 61. Spencer Binion scored a team-high 17 points for AOC. Jonathan Garner scored a game-high 23 points for First Baptist.

■ Bismarck-Henning 59, Salt Fork 53. Wilde Garowski (17 points) and Andy Bott (15 points) paced B-H in the double-overtime win. Max Stutsman (23 points) and Ross Learnard (21 points) carried the Storm.

■ Cerro Gordo/Bement 65, Tri-County 50. The host Broncos pulled away for the win behind 23 points from Connor Gross. Tyler Wright had a game-high 27 points for the Titans.

■ Chrisman 45, Westville 32. The host Cardinals relied on a game-high 23 points from Ty Bolen, while Jeffery Thompson led Westville with 11 points.

■ Georgetown-Ridge Farm 45, Oakwood 38. Rylee Goodwin scored all 11 of his points in the second half for the visiting Buffaloes. Parker Lee tallied a game-high 14 points for Oakwood.

■ Mahomet-Seymour 72, Bloomington Central Catholic 69. Conner Diedrich (24 points, five assists), Sam Hohlfelder (18 points, five rebounds, four assists) and Christian Romine (17 points, seven rebounds) carried M-S in a home Corn Belt win.

■ Manteno 47, Watseka 46. Cole Davenport finished with a team-high 13 points for Watseka.

■ Monticello 50, Sullivan 42. Nick Stokowski (27 points, 16 rebounds) propelled the host Sages. Derrek Stain led Sullivan with 21 points.

■ Paxton-Buckley-Loda 51, Fisher 42. The host Panthers received 11 points apiece from Jay Eshleman and Johnny Walder. Nick Griffith scored a game-high 18 points for the Bunnies.

■ Ridgeview 66, Iroquois West 47. Trey McCormick (14 points) and Austin Zielsdorf (14 points) led the Mustangs. IW’s Wesley Grant had 14 points.

■ Sangamon Valley 66, Atwood-Hammond 50. Dylan Black had 15 points and Jesse Ruff scored 12 points for the Rajahs in defeat.

■ St. Joseph-Ogden 66, LeRoy 56. Nate Michael (24 points) and Brent Schluter (19 points) sparked the host Spartans. LeRoy’s Matt Chastain led all scorers with 30 points.

■ St. Thomas More 85, Blue Ridge 82. The Sabers edged the host Knights behind 29 points from Doug Wallen and 19 points from Kyler Jones. Blue Ridge’s Will Duggins scored a game-high 33 points.

■ Shiloh 62, Villa Grove-Heritage 54. Andrew Donithan had a game-high 20 points for the host Raiders, and Chance Lemmon scored a team-high 14 points for the Hawks.

■ Unity 47, Meridian 46. Zack Thorson scored a game-high 14 points and handed out seven assists to key the Rockets’ win at home.
