All-Area Boys' Basketball 2014: Meet the first team

The numbers: Illini signee, the two-time Area Player of the Year, had 13 double-doubles and was named to the IBCA Class 3A/4A all-state first team. Sixth in area in scoring (19.6 average) and fourth all time at Centennial with 1,425 points, second with 711 career rebounds. His 9.3 rebounds tied for eighth in the area.

A few of my favorites: Steak ... Billy Barooz ... Kevin Hart ... LeBron James and Kevin Durant ... history ...

On my bucket list: Go out of the country, go to a Final Four, win a national title and play pro ball, whether that’s overseas or in the NBA.

In 10 years, I see myself: being involved with basketball.

The numbers: Parkland baseball recruit fifth in area in scoring (20.4 average), third in free throw accuracy (84.7 percent on 122 of 144) and first in three-pointers (95). Ranks 11th on IHSA career charts with 326 three-pointers and is 19th with 370 free throws made. Scored a Bement career record 2,078 points (18.2 career average).

The numbers: Chosen to The Associated Press Class 2A five-player all-state first team. Averaged 18.4 points per game, was fifth in three-pointers (71) in area and SJ-O career leader in treys. Finished fifth in career scoring (1,244 points) at school. Fifth in area in free throw accuracy (84.3 percent, 122 of 144).

The numbers: Top scorer (10.8 average) and the assist leader (2.8) on the area’s most improved team, an 18-11 squad that reached the Class 3A sectional finals. Tied for ninth in the area in steals per game (2.3). Hit 33 three-pointers, which tied for second on the Maroons. Scored 24 points vs. Urbana.

The numbers: Repeat selection averaged 15.6 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. Finished third at school in career scoring (1,293 points). A second-team all-state choice on the IBCA’s combined Class 1A/2A team. Shot 77.5 percent from the free throw line (79 of 102) and 49.6 percent from the field (187 of 377).

The numbers: Repeat selection was the top scorer (13.8 average) for the state’s sixth-ranked Class 1A team (25-2 record). Ninth in the area in three-pointers made (61). A 70 percent shooter from the free throw line (35 of 50). Averaged 3.9 rebounds per game and third on the Knights with 61 assists.

The numbers: Repeat selection, second in the area in scoring (22.5 average) and averaged team-high 6.4 rebounds per game. An honorable mention all-stater on The Associated Press’ Class 4A team, hit 42 three-pointers and shot 73.9 percent from the free throw line (113 of 153). Scored 40 points vs. Cahokia.

The numbers: Parkland baseball recruit a repeat selection and area scoring leader (22.7), who averaged a double-double, grabbing 10.7 rebounds per game. Eighth in the area with 62 three-pointers. School’s No. 5 career scorer (1,479 points) and No. 6 career rebounder (762). His season average this year was seventh-best all-time.

The numbers: Repeat selection averaged a team-high 16.4 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, tying for eighth in the area in rebounding. Was the area’s eighth most-accurate shooter from the field (59.1 percent), hitting 214 of 362 attempts. A 77 percent shooter from the free throw line (114 of 148).

The numbers: Was the top scorer (17.0 average) on a 23-8 team that reached Elite Eight, playing in the super-sectionals in Class 1A. Made more than half of his shots from the field (209 of 393 for 53.2 percent). Averaged 5.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. A 64.2 percent free throw shooter (68 of 106).
