Friday's prep highlights: M-S still perfect in Apollo

Arthur Okaw Christian 78, Judah Christian 74. The Conquering Riders pulled out a road win thanks to 28 points from Trevor Beachy, who sank eight three-pointers for AOC (13-4). Benny Lee (18 points) and Oliver Binion (15 points) also had double-digit outputs against the Tribe (12-3) as AOC hit 15 three-pointers. Cade Chitty (24 points) and Daniel Alston (15 points) powered Judah Christian.

Bloomington Central Catholic 94, Unity 54. The visiting Rockets lost their Illini Prairie Conference opener, falling behind 45-26 at halftime and never recovering in the second half. JT Wheeler (19 points) and Jonathan Decker (12 points) led the Rockets (11-2), who saw their five-game win streak end.

Cissna Park 75, Clifton Central 40. The host Timberwolves cruised to their fourth consecutive win as five players scored at least eight points in the Sangamon Valley Conference victory. Bailey Sluis (18 points on six three-pointers) and Christian Stadeli (17 points) sparked the Timberwolves (11-5), who led 41-15 at halftime.

Clinton 48, Central A&M 40. Chase Reynolds nailed a trio of three-pointers to finish with 16 points as the Maroons (9-6) earned their first win in Central Illinois Conference play. Dalton Smith's nine points complemented Reynolds' output.

Danville 72, Peoria Richwoods 42. Kendle Moore and Sean Houpt each racked up 16 points as the Vikings (14-2) went on the road and picked up a Big 12 Conference triumph. Eli Davis added 11 points for Danville, while Julian Pearl potted 10.

La Salette 77, Arcola 39. The visiting Lions (15-3) relied on 20 points and 13 rebounds from Joel Adese to post their 10th straight win. Caleb Moss and Ian Burns each added 13 points. Myles Roberts had a team-high 14 points for the Purple Riders (3-11).

Mahomet-Seymour 68, Effingham 56. The host Bulldogs overcame a one-point halftime deficit and received double-figure scoring contributions from three players to stay perfect in their first Apollo Conference season. Cory Noe paced M-S (14-4) with 26 points to go along with four steals, helping the Bulldogs recover after trailing 34-33 at halftime. Noah Benedict and Holt Campion each tossed in 16 points, with Campion finishing 8 of 9 from the field and handing out four assists.

Milford 48, Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 47. Jacob Thompson produced a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, helping the host Bearcats fend off the Blue Devils in a closely contested Vermilion Valley Conference game. Kennedy Kunsch chipped in 11 points for Milford (12-3), including two timely three-pointers in the second half. Wyatt Edwards scored a game-high 21 points to lead BHRA (11-6).

Olympia 59, Argenta-Oreana 32. Logan Batson compiled 10 points for the Bombers (1-15), who could not overcome a nonconference opponent that had nine players tally at least two points each. Drew Johnson added seven points for A-O.

Paxton-Buckley-Loda 49, St. Thomas More 43. The host Panthers overcame a 36-28 deficit to start the fourth quarter and snap a five-game losing skid with a nonconference win. Austin Gooden scored seven of his team-high 12 points in the fourth quarter for PBL (7-7) and Tyler Pichon added nine points. Jake Sellett scored a game-high 16 points to pace STM (6-10).

Pontiac 55, Prairie Central 41. Billy Printz generated nine points, including hitting 5 of 7 free throws, but the Hawks (6-9) were largely stymied in IPC action. Eddie Shumaker and Jake Bachtold each had seven points for Prairie Central.

Rantoul 70, Mattoon 61. Jametriel Hudson deposited 20 points as the Eagles (7-9) used a 35-24 scoring advantage in the final two quarters to outlast a nonconference foe. Kamryn Rome dumped in 16 points for Rantoul, while LJ Lewis and Latavius Winston each added 11. Hudson and Rome each hit four three-pointers to contribute to their production.

Ridgeview 71, Tri-Valley 54. Justin Myers dropped in a game-high 31 points and teammate Jacob Donaldson wasn't far behind with 23 points as the host Mustangs (14-2) steadily pulled away for the Heart of Illinois Conference win after only leading 35-32 at halftime.

Shelbyville 74, Tuscola 54. The host Warriors fell in Central Illinois Conference action as Haden Cothron drilled six three-pointers to finish with a team-high 18 points. Brayden VonLanken chipped in 14 points for the Warriors (5-10).

Uni High 60, Normal Calvary 23. The visiting Illineks received a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds from Noah Blue in a convincing East Central Illinois Conference win. Paul D'Angelo (11 points) and Camden Coleman (10 points, nine rebounds) also hit double figures for the Illineks (9-5).

Watseka 61, Iroquois West 34. Blake Castonguay finished with a game-high 18 points for the host Warriors (12-5) in an SVC win. Brendan Fletcher added 13 points for Watseka, which outscored the Raiders 25-6 in the third quarter. Michael Hartke had a team-high 13 points for IW (4-11).
