Wednesday's highlights: Comets, Sages to meet for regional title

In boys' basketball

Oakwood 53, Salt Fork 51. Cameron Wise poured in 17 points and Chase Vinson added 16 to help the host Comets (16-9) edge the Storm (19-7) in a Vermilion Valley Conference game. Blaize Griffin led Salt Fork with 13 points and Payton Taylor added 11 points.

Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 62, Sangamon Valley 30. Kobe Wells delivered a game-high 29 points for the Knights (13-9) in a road Little Okaw Valley Northwest win. Colton Romine added nine points and 10 rebounds for ALAH.

In girls' basketball

Class 2A Georgetown-Ridge Farm Regional

Oakwood 47, Westville 21. The offensive trio of Shaelyn Turner (13 points), Brenna Durst (13 points) and Katelyn Young (12 points) helped the second-seeded Comets (26-3) humble the Tigers in a regional semifinal win. Tiffanie Elliott led Tigers (13-18) with six points.

Monticello 33, Bismarck-Henning 23. Cloe Clark and Jayna Burger both scored eight points to help the third-seeded Sages (20-4) top the Blue Devils (25-7) in a regional semifinal game. Emily Meidel paced No. 6 BHRA with 17 points.

Class 2A Reed-Custer Regional

Paxton-Buckley-Loda 58, Beecher 36. Liberty Jamison led the second-seeded Panthers to a regional semifinal win, making four three-pointers en route to a 21-point performance for PBL (20-7). Teammates Mackenzie Bruns and Madi Peden both added 10 points.

Class 1A Fisher Regional

Ridgeview 43, LeRoy 25. Mya Tinsley dropped in a game-high 16 points to propel the top-seeded Mustangs (20-9) to a regional semifinal win. Megan Woltkamp finished with 11 points to spark LeRoy (8-19).

Lexington 53, Fisher 36. Daneigh Burk and Alivia Spenard both had nine points for the fifth-seeded Bunnies (13-17) in a regional semifinal loss.Class 1A Milford RegionalSchlarman 67, Tri-Point 26.The top-seeded Hilltoppers (27-1) won their regional semifinal game behind 21 points from Capria Brown.

Milford 50, Armstrong-Potomac 18. Emily Duis (15 points) and Kaylee Warren (12 points) powered the host Bearcats (14-12) to a regional semifinal win against A-P (11-16).

Class 1A Nokomis Regional

Tri-County 81, Salt Fork 36. Harley Barry made 16 steals to spark Tri-County's defense and she converted that into a game-high 20 points for the top-seeded Titans in a regional semifinal game win. Tayler Barry added 17 points for the Titans (25-4) and Maiya Eskew chipped in 11 points.

Class 1A Illinois Lutheran Regional

Cissna Park 44, Grant Park 17. The offense of Gabby Wessels and the defense of Jasmine Stock proved to be an effective combination for the second-seeded Timberwolves in a regional semifinal win. Wessels had 15 points and seven rebounds to lead Cissna Park (20-9), while Anna Jennings (11 points) and Stock (seven points, seven rebounds, six steals) contributed to the win.
