Murphy leads St. Thomas More golfers

URBANA – Ryan Murphy tied for medalist honors at Stone Creek Golf Club with a 1-under 35 and St. Thomas More topped Monticello by 13 strokes in a nonconference boys' golf match Monday.

Willy Wilner fired a 35 for Judah Christian, and Corbin Sebens shot 38 for the Sages.

At Gibson City

Logan Fox and Jackson Edwards each shot 42 at Railside Golf Club as Tri-Valley beat Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley in a dual. Ben Wurmnest was the low man for the Falcons, shooting a 46.

At Casey

Derrick Herschberger shot 40 and Arcola beat Casey-Westfield and Cumberland in a triangular meet at Casey Country Club. Aaron Wesch added a 42 for the Purple Riders (5-3).

At Lexington

Kevin Clore fired a 39 for Fisher in a dual meet at El Paso Golf Club against Lexington.

At Farmer City

Ryan Maxwell tied for medalist honors with a 42, but Blue Ridge fell to El Paso/Gridley at Woodlawn Country Club.

At Hoopeston

Zach Villwock shot a 42 at Hubbard Trail Golf Course to lead Iroquois West to a victory against Hoopeston Area and Watseka. Watseka's top performer was Bradley Crabtree (48).
