Monday's highlights: Nixon nets five goals

In soccer

St. Joseph-Ogden 4, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 2. NICK GEERS scored twice as the Spartans bolted to a 4-0 halftime lead. JON CRAWFORD and AUSTIN BAKER also scored.

Monticello 9, Fisher/Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 3. BILLY NIXON scored five goals for the Sages, who broke away from a 3-3 tie. JACOB HANSELMAN added a goal and an assist. JORDAN SIZEMORE scored twice for Fisher/GCMS.

Unity 5, Salt Fork/Westville 1. LOGAN CUNNINGHAM's two goals and an assist powered the Rockets. NOAH WINN added a goal and two assists. Keeper ZETH McCLOUD made six saves.

Blue Ridge 3, Bloomington Central Catholic 2. JONATHAN MALONE had three goals as the Knights erased a 2-0 halftime deficit.

In tennis

Danville 8, St. Thomas More 1. AMY SHAH scored a straight-sets victory at No. 2 singles as the Vikings rolled. RACHAEL and REBECCA LEWIS topped STM's MADIE BAILLON and ALYSSA VODACEK 3-6, 6-4, 11-9 in a thriller at No. 1 doubles.

In boys' golf

At Danville. Bismarck-Henning shot 160 at Harrison Park to move to 11-1. DAVID WARREN was medalist with a 38.

At Sheldon. Prairie Central defeated Watseka behind medalist KYLER HOFFMAN's 36 at Shewami Country Club.

At Monticello. Medalist DREW HEFFLEY shot 1-under 35 to lead Monticello to a triangular victory against Heyworth and Blue Ridge at Monticello Golf Club. DALY O'BRIEN added a 37.

At Gibson City. Fisher's JAKE WARMOTH (42) was medalist, while CPCI (194) edged GCMS (195) at Railside.

In girls' golf

At Farmer City. KATIE SPANGLER (43) and EMILY SPANGLER (45) led Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley past Blue Ridge and Tri-Valley at Woodlawn.

At Urbana. St. Thomas More got a 37 from medalist SIERRA MYERSCOUGH en route to a victory against LeRoy at Stone Creek.

At Mahomet. Medalist CHARLOTTE GOSS fired a 39 as Mahomet-Seymour topped Eureka at Lake of the Woods.

In volleyball

At Farmer City. KAITLYN ZELHART collected 10 kills to power Blue Ridge to a 25-17, 25-23 victory against DeLand-Weldon.

At Bismarck. ABBY BERGMAN had six blocks and MORGAN GERBSCH chipped in 16 digs as Bismarck-Henning tripped CPCI 25-22, 25-13. JESSICA FLINKMAN had five kills for CPCI.

At Paxton. AMANDA YPYA had seven kills to lead Paxton-Buckley-Loda's 25-10, 25-5 victory against Tri-Point.

At Watseka. Watseka defeated Milford behind eight kills from JESSICA ALLHANDS. KAT GRIMES had 15 assists.

At Arthur. HANNAH DAVIS had five kills and KARLY GOODMAN added four in Arthur's 25-11, 25-17 victory against Sullivan.

At Cerro Gordo. CAMILLE McRAE had four kills in Cerro Gordo's 25-20, 25-19 loss to Central A&M.

At St. Joseph. HANNAH GAYLORD collected eight kills and EMILY GRISWELL 18 assists to help St. Joseph-Ogden to a 25-13, 25-12 victory against Unity.

At Monticello. JAELYN WESTFIELD and ALINA ALTMYER had eight kills apiece as Champaign Central beat Monticello 25-21, 25-14. JAIMEY WATROUS and KATIE LIENHART had four kills for the Sages.

At Fithian. MAKENZIE BAKER had six kills but Oakwood lost to Danville 27-25, 25-11.

At Catlin. HANNAH BEESON had three aces and a team-high 15 digs in Villa Grove's 25-11, 25-17 loss to Salt Fork.

At Gibson City. HALEY PENCE's nine kills propelled Iroquois West to a 25-16, 17-25, 25-21 victory against GCMS. JAYMI NETTLETON had eight kills for GCMS.
