Thursday's highlights: Uni blanks Maroons in soccer

In volleyball

At Decatur. Centennial rolled to a 25-9, 25-3 win against Eisenhower behind Libby Cocagne's eight service aces and three kills.

At Rantoul. Chaquera Cross had 18 digs and Hannah Wascher six blocks for Rantoul in a 21-25, 32-30, 27-25 loss to Pontiac.

At Danville. Champaign Central defeated Danville 25-20, 25-15 behind Jaelynn Westfield's 11 kills and seven blocks.

At Clifton. Hayley Gray's seven kills and five blocks led Watseka to a 25-17, 25-16 victory against Clifton Central. Jessica Allhands had nine kills and Kat Grimes contributed 18 assists for the Warriors.

At Arcola. Laynee Clark had seven kills, six digs and three service aces for Arcola in a 25-14, 25-7 victory against Lovington.

At Gilman. St. Joseph-Ogden swept Iroquois West 25-10, 25-11 behind Josey Fruhling's six kills, eight digs and two service aces. Morgan Small had 12 digs for the Raiders.

At Cerro Gordo. Leah Henricks had seven kills and three blocks for Cerro Gordo in a 25-9, 25-8 victory against Villa Grove. Emily Richardson added 16 assists and three aces for the Broncos. Becky Bishop had 11 digs for Villa Grove.

At Bismarck. Bismarck-Henning improved to 5-0 in the Vermilion Valley Conference with a 25-8, 25-12 victory against Armstrong-Potomac. Bailey Bryant had six blocks and four kills for the Blue Devils (11-1), while Lauren McKenzie racked up six service aces. Erika Sieberns had eight blocks for A-P.

At Sullivan. Paige Neuhauser's eight kills and seven digs lifted Sullivan to a 25-16, 25-20 victory against Moweaqua Central A&M. Torie Yoder led the Redskins with 10 digs.

At Argenta. Argenta-Oreana defeated Macon Meridian 25-18, 10-25, 25-17 behind Hannah Millington's 11 kills and three solo blocks.

At Oakland. Amber Meyer had 25 assists, leading Tri-County to a 25-13, 25-9 victory against previously undefeated Arthur. Lizzy Barnard contributed 10 kills and Autumn Meyer added nine digs for the Titans (16-3). Ashley Tabb led Arthur (12-1) with nine digs.

At Atwood. Kaitie Wildman had 15 digs and Reilly Ferrell recorded 17 assists, leading Atwood-Hammond to a 25-22, 25-19 victory against Shiloh.

At Chrisman. Schlarman handed Chrisman its first VVC loss 12-25, 25-18, 26-24. Jordan Marganski had 14 kills for the Hilltoppers, who received 18 digs apiece from Isabela Dias and Janelle Marion. Daniele Hoult had five kills, five digs and two service aces for the Cardinals (11-3), who fell to 4-1 in the VVC.

At DeLand. Jamie Blue had 10 kills and Jo Ellen Machesky added 11 digs, leading Urbana University High to a 25-15, 25-17 victory against DeLand-Weldon.

At Fieldcrest. Fisher defeated Fieldcrest 25-19, 25-20 behind Elyssa Browning's seven kills and Jacy Cochran's seven blocks.

At Fithian. Makenzie Baker's 16 kills and four service aces boosted Oakwood to a 25-12, 25-13 sweep of Salt Fork. Toria Plotner had two aces for the Storm.

At Broadlands. Mariah Coleman had 18 kills and Stephanie Sanderson 21 digs to rally Heritage to a 22-25, 25-19, 25-12 win against Martinsville. Taylor Wienke finished with 28 assists for the Hawks.

At Cissna Park. CPCI swept Momence 25-16, 25-16 behind Natalie Neukomm's 10 digs and Maria Wilkening's 12 assists.

At Monticello. Kaitlyn Hunt had 18 digs for Monticello in a 25-23, 25-15 loss to Warrensburg-Latham.

At Fairbury. Despite Brooke Bachtold's 12 digs, Prairie Central lost to Olympia 20-25, 25-16, 25-20.

At Mahomet. Bloomington Central Catholic handed Mahomet-Seymour a 25-23, 25-15 defeat in Corn Belt action.

At Bethany. Bement defeated Okaw Valley 25-16, 25-19 behind Alyssa Hendrix's 10 kills, Taylor Wegrich's seven digs and Sabrina Hinton's five blocks.

At Clinton. Clinton improved to 3-0 in the Okaw Valley Conference with a 25-14, 25-20 victory against Tuscola. Morgan Hickman had 11 digs and 12 assists for the Maroons.

At Hoopeston. Beth Weston had four kills and two blocks for Hoopeston Area in a 25-17, 25-18 loss to Milford.

In boys' golf

At Villa Grove. Nick Berger shot a 39 to win medalist honors by 4 strokes and lead Judah Christian to victory in a three-team meet at Tri-City Country Club. The Tribe's 182 total was 7 strokes ahead of runner-up Shiloh.

At Savoy. Kirby Bolger of St. Thomas More won medalist honors with a 41, but Centennial had the next four top scorers to win the dual meet 184-192 at the University of Illinois Blue Course. Trent Sanford led the Chargers with a 45.

At LeRoy. Jacob Wohlwend shot a 1-over-par 37 to win medalist honors for runner-up LeRoy in a three-team meet at LeRoy Country Club. Jake Warmoth's 40 paced third-place Fisher.

At Hoopeston. GCMS won a three-team meet behind 46s by co-medalists Christopher Witteman and Alec Merritt at Hubbard Trail Country Club. Nick Bauer of runner-up CPCI also carded a 46.

In girls' golf

At LeRoy. Medalist Molly Marcum's 40 led LeRoy to a 187-201 victory against El Paso-Gridley at LeRoy Country Club.

At Normal. Janice Choo shot a team-best 53 for Champaign Central, which finished third in a four-team tournament at Ironwood Golf Course.

At Hoopeston. Led by medalist Emily Spangler's 43, GCMS rolled to a 181-248 victory against Hoopeston Area at Hubbard Trail Country Club. Regan Romshek of the Falcons was second with a 45.

At St. Anne. Watseka's Kate Mueller shot a 40 to tie for second place in a four-team meet at Shamrock Golf Course. The Warriors finished third.

In boys' soccer

Urbana University High 2, Champaign Central 0. Conrad Schloer broke a scoreless tie in the 60th minute and keeper Chris Nguyen made nine saves as the Illineks maintained their perfect record in a hard-fought road victory.

Tahar Bowen-Pinto also scored for Uni (14-0-0), which held a slim 13-12 edge in shots on goal.

Monticello 5, Unity 1. The Sages advanced to the championship match of the Okaw Valley tournament behind two goals apiece by Billy Nixon and Jacob Hanselman. Luke Hanselman contributed a goal and an assist for Monticello (9-2), which will face Warrensburg-Latham at noon Saturday at MidState Field for the title. Logan Cunningham scored for the Rockets.

Centennial 2, Mahomet-Seymour 0. The Chargers scored twice in the second half to win on the road. Trevor Rice had six saves for the Bulldogs.

Judah Christian 2, Cornerstone Christian 0. Zach Day and Matt Zuckermann scored unassisted goals for the visiting Tribe, which outshot its Bloomington-based opponent 45-2.

Fisher/GCMS 2, Iroquois West 0. Jordan Sizemore scored both goals for the host Bunnies, who did not allow a shot on goal. Hector Reyes had 12 saves for Iroquois West.

Hoopeston Area 5, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 0. Ben Brumett recorded his seventh shutout of the season and Elijah Yates scored the first two goals, leading the Cornjerkers to a road win. Brennan Crose had two assists for Hoopeston.

St. Thomas More 4, Salt Fork/Westville 1. The Sabers scored all of their goals in the second half in a road victory. Zach Shin's goal broke a 1-1 tie and gave STM the lead for good. Bobby Durnell had 14 saves for Salt Fork/Westville.

Blue Ridge 6, Watseka 0. J.J. Malone drilled six goals as the Knights improved to 15-1-2. Josh Plunk had five saves in the shutout.

In girls' tennis

At Champaign. Allison Hansen won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Emily Lydic and Songhyum Lee combined for an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles as Centennial rolled to a 9-0 victory against Watseka.

At Urbana. St. Thomas More swept the doubles matches, but it wasn't enough to prevent a 5-4 loss to Bloomington at Atkins Tennis Center. Madie Baillon had the Sabers' lone singles win, at No. 1. She also combined with Alyssa Vodacek to pull out an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles.
