Tuesday's prep highlights: Moews leads B-H golfers

At Danville. Bismarck-Henning's TYLER MOEWS shot a 77 to finish second and teammates JARED ANDERSON, STEPHEN KROUT and ANDY BOTT all tied for fifth, firing 79s to lead the Blue Devils (314) to a Class 1A regional title at Harrison Park. Tuscola (343) finished second thanks to medalist CAMERON WESTJOHN's 72. Blue Ridge (357) grabbed the final team spot. Judah Christian's NICK BERGER (77) and Schlarman's JORDAN KING (77) were among the individuals who advanced.

At Savoy. St. Thomas More won a tiebreaker against Centennial to win a Class 2A regional at the Orange Course. STM (311) was led by RICHARD HARRINGTON's 75. MATTHEW TATE (77) and AARON PINKERTON (78) each broke 80 for the Sabers. Centennial was led by medalist GREY SCHULTZ, who won a playoff on the first hole against Harrington. RYAN HUNT (78), PETER BLACK (79) and CHRISTIAN KHACHATURIAN (79) also starred for the Chargers. Rantoul/Paxton-Buckley-Loda's BROCK PEAVLER and Mahomet-Seymour's GArrett Cox were among the advancing individuals. They each tied for third with 76s.

At Decatur. Monticello's DREW HEFFLEY, who tied for third, and teammate DALY O'BRIEN (80) qualified for next week's sectional as individuals. Clinton's ZACH NEWBERRY (82), LOGAN WOOLRIDGE (84) and COREY WISHER (85) also advanced in Class 2A at Red Tail Run.

At Windsor. Sullivan got 81s from BRYCE MILLER and PATRICK MILLER at Angus Links and finished second as a team, advancing to sectionals in Class 1A.

At El Paso. LeRoy's JACOB WOHLWEND shot 84 and advanced to next week's sectional in Class 1A.

At Dwight. Iroquois West's KYLE POOL fired an 80 and finished second to advance to next week's sectional. Pool will be joined by CPCI's NICK BAUER (88) and Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley's CHRISTOPHER WITTEMAN (90).

In volleyball

At Normal. Centennial's school-record start came to an end, the Chargers losing 25-19, 25-22 at Normal Community.

At Little Okaw Valley tournament. Arcola defeated Cerro Gordo 25-21, 25-17 behind seven kills and five digs from TAYLOR EDWARDS. CARA EDWARDS added five kills and eight digs.

— Martinsville defeated Bement 26-24, 25-14. Bement got six blocks from SABRINA HINTON and nine digs from ANNA HENDRIX.

At Champaign. Urbana University defeated Judah Christian 26-24, 25-15 behind EMMA HOYER and JAMIE BLUE, each of whom tallied seven kills. Jo Ellen Machesky and Blue had 12 digs apiece.

At Mahomet. EMMA CABUTTI had eight kills and six digs to lead Mahomet-Seymour to a 25-14, 25-22 win against Eureka. ELISE DAHLKE added seven kills, and KRISTEN BELYEA had 11 assists.

At Tuscola. Paige neuhauser had six kills and 10 digs for Sullivan in a 25-19, 25-19 win against Tuscola. hannah wheeler added four aces, four kills and 12 digs.

At Warrensburg. HANNAH MILLINGTON had six kills and two blocks for Argenta-Oreana in a 25-23, 25-12 loss to host Warrensburg-Latham.

At Danville. LAURA GROSS (seven kills, 10 assists) and Jordan Marganski (six kills, seven assists, seven blocks) led Schlarman to a 25-15, 25-13 win against Salt Fork. Rebecca Beaulier added 13 assists for the Hilltoppers.

At Heyworth. Blue Ridge's Kaitlyn Zelhart recorded 17 kills and 5 1/2 blocks, reaching 1,000 kills in her career, but Heyworth won 20-25, 25-22, 25-15. Jordan Wheeler added three aces for the Knights, who also got 17 assists and 14 digs from Emily Zelhart.

At Maroa. ELISE PONTIOUS had nine kills and eight assists to lead Monticello to a 25-13, 23-25, 25-23 win against Maroa-Forsyth. JAIMEY WATROUS added 13 assists and five aces.

At Bismarck. Bailey Bryant had four kills and six blocks for Bismarck-Henning in a 25-13, 25-10 win against Georgetown-Ridge Farm.

At Rantoul. Chaquera Cross had 11 digs and two aces for Rantoul in a 25-14, 25-22 win against Prairie Central. Patrece McLAIN added eight assists.

At Arthur. Meghan Lowry had eight kills and Kristi Gingerich had nine assists as Arthur Okaw Christian beat First Baptist Christian Academy 25-6, 25-2.

At Normal. Christie Stark had seven kills and four digs for Urbana in its 25-19, 25-15 loss to Normal West in a Big 12 Conference match. Holly Weber added four digs for the Tigers (9-11, 1-5).

At Decatur. Michaleen Forman and Shawneis Jones each had nine kills for Danville in its 26-24, 25-21 victory against MacArthur in a Big 12 match. Alexis Jimson-Miller had 19 digs, and Jordan Ogle contributed 21 assists.

At Armstrong. Shayla Boen had 11 assists, Morgan Zindars managed 13 digs and Erika Sieberns had eight blocks for Armstrong-Potomac in a 25-12, 25-27, 25-22 win against Westville.

At Milford. Brett Bishop (nine kills, two blocks), Shelby Ross (16 assists, two digs) and Daniele Hoult (four kills, two digs, one ace) led Chrisman to a 25-18, 25-20 win against Milford.

At Shelbyville. Morgan Hickman had 20 digs and 21 assists and teammate Ally Lawson added 21 digs and seven kills for Clinton in a 22-25, 25-21, 30-28 win against Shelbyville. Shanae Ritter added 25 digs and two aces.

In swimming & diving

At Springfield. Centennial's AUDREY RODAWIG provided the lone wins for the Chargers in a 110-66 dual loss to Springfield. Rodawig won the 200-yard freestyle and the 100 butterfly.

In soccer

Warrensburg-Latham 5, Monticello 1. BILLY NIXON scored the lone goal for the Sages in a home loss.

St. Thomas More 2, St. Joseph-Ogden 1. WILEY JONES scored a pair of goals to lead the host Sabers to the Sangamon Valley Conference championship. KYLER JONES and ZACH SHIN each had assists.

Blue Ridge 1, Fisher/GCMS 1. J.J. MALONE scored the lone goal for host Blue Ridge and JORDAN SIZEMORE scored for the Bunnies.

Judah Christian 3, Schlarman 2. MATT ZUCKERMANN scored twice for the visiting Tribe, which got a goal and an assist from MALIK WILLIAMS.

Urbana University 4, Unity 1. ALEX MESTRE had a goal and two assists to lead the visiting Illineks.

Urbana 4, Normal Community 1. JONATHAN LUKUSA had two assists and scored a goal to lead the visiting Tigers. MIGUEL FIERRO scored twice for Urbana.

Hoopeston Area/Bismarck-Henning 7, Salt Fork 1. SETH TALBOTT recorded a hat trick and teammate BRENNAN CROSE added two goals for the visiting Cornjerkers.

Danville 5, Mahomet-Seymour 0. WESTON DePRATT and MAC LEVERENZ each scored a pair of goals and JOSE TAPIA notched two assists for the visiting Vikings.

In tennis

At Mattoon. Centennial's ALLISON HANSEN accounted for the Chargers' two points in a 7-2 loss to Mattoon. Hansen won 6-0, 6-0 in singles and teamed with SONG LEE to win in doubles.

At Champaign. OLIVIA MALONEY posted a 10-0 win in singles and the team of SARA WELLS and MARIA SHIGETA posted an 8-0 win in doubles for Champaign Central in an 8-1 win against Urbana.
