Wednesday's prep highlights: Baumann paces Central golfers

In boys’ golf

At Bloomington. Zach Baumann of Champaign Central shot an 86 and was the area’s top scorer in the Raider Classic at The Den at Fox Creek Golf Course. Baumann tied for 64th for the Maroons, who finished 18th in the 21-team field. Reed Krynski led last-place Danville with an 87, tying for 72nd.


At Sheldon. Ryan McGill of Hoopeston Area shot a 39 to edge Iroquois West’s Clark Fink by 1 stroke for medalist honors in a three-team meet at Shewami Country Club.

Iroquois West captured the team title with a 180 — 10 shots lower than runner-up Watseka.

Nathan Schroeder led the Warriors with a 44.

In girls’ golf

At Sheldon. Drew Grimes of Watseka earned medalist honors with a 46, and Iroquois West defeated the Warriors for the team crown at Shewami Country Club.

Runner-up Lindsey Luehrsen led Iroquois West with a 48. Hoopeston Area, which did not field a full team, was paced by Holly Morgeson’s 56.
