SAVOY — Urbana’s JT Donahue and Bismarck-Henning’s Andy Bott tied for fifth place with 76s Friday at the Champaign Central Invitational at the UI Golf Course.
Centennial’s Christian Khachaturian and Central’s Riley Thompson tied for 19th at 80. The Chargers tied for sixth in the team standings in the event won by Mattoon. Central was eighth, and Mahomet-Seymour tied for ninth.
In girls' golf:
Birckbichler shines. Mahomet-Seymour’s Maddie Birckbichler tied for fourth at 83, leading the Bulldogs to second place at the Brookhill Shootout.
Quincy Notre Dame’s girls’ golf team placed first at 366, 2 strokes better than M-S.
In boys' soccer:
Maroons, Vikings advance. Jaedon Rodgers, Juan Garcia, Joey Wager and Jonathan Makiese each scored, leading Champaign Central to a 4-0 boys’ soccer victory against Peotone during the first round of the Bradley-Bourbonnais Invitational.
Feli Keti had two assists for the Maroons.
In another match, Danville advanced to the semifinals after winning a coin flip in a match against Lincoln-Way Central that ended 1-1 and was suspended by lightning.
Jones sparks Sabers. Kyler Jones scored four goals, lifting St. Thomas More to a 4-3 boys’ soccer victory against Elmhurst Timothy Christian at the Peoria Christian Invitational.
