Thursday's highlights: Danville volleyball rallies for win

In volleyball

■ Normal U-High 2, Centennial 0.
Miaya Peacock had four kills and six service aces for the Chargers in a 25-20, 25-21 home loss.

■ Danville 2, Bismarck-Henning 1. The Vikings rallied to a 9-25, 25-23, 25-13 home victory behind Mackenzie King’s seven kills.

■ Urbana 2, Rantoul 0. The visiting Tigers won 25-19, 26-24.

■ Oakwood 2, Urbana Uni High 0. Peyton Jones’ seven kills and 10 blocks propelled Oakwood to a 25-21, 25-19 home win. Natalie Dullerud had 11 digs for the Illineks.

■ Tri-County 2, Hutsonville 0. Alex Hudson recorded 15 assists and Heidi Dague had six kills to lead Tri-County to a 25-12, 25-9 home win.

■ Georgetown-Ridge Farm 2, Arthur Okaw Christian 0. Abby Mast had five assists for Arthur Okaw Christian in a 25-10, 25-22 road loss.

■ Cerro Gordo 2, Bement 0. Led by Leah Henricks’ eight kills and seven digs, the visiting Broncos won 25-20, 25-20. Henricks also finished with five blocks. Abby Trott racked up 14 digs for Bement.

■ Arthur-Lovington 2, Villa Grove 0. Sherelle Coller had 13 assists and three service aces for the Lancers in a 25-6, 25-13 road victory.

■ Prairie Central 2, Herscher 0. Shania Scurlock’s 20 assists and Katie Kupferschmid’s 13 digs lifted the Hawks to a 25-15, 25-22 home win.

■ Blue Ridge 2, Fisher 0. Amber Blazek had eight kills to lead the visiting Knights to a 25-21, 25-16 victory. Alyssa Chapman of Fisher finished with four blocks.

■ St. Joseph-Ogden 2, Monticello 0. The visiting Spartans won 25-18, 25-23 behind Kylie Michael’s seven kills and Karlie Baker’s 13 assists. Mallory Becker had nine digs for the Sages.

■ Tri-Valley 2, PBL 0. The host Panthers fell 25-20, 25-21 despite Eve Bahler’s 14 assists and Jori Maynard’s nine digs.
■ Chrisman 2, Paris 0. Abby Bush had six kills and three blocks to help the Cardinals pull out a 25-20, 25-23 road victory.

■ Bishop McNamara 2, Cissna Park 0. Addison Stoller racked up 12 digs, six kills and five service aces for the Timberwolves in a 25-23, 25-22 loss at Kankakee.

■ Armstrong-Potomac 2, Shiloh 1. Rachel Miles and Morgan Zindars each recorded double-doubles to lift the Trojans to a 25-23, 20-25, 25-21 home win. Miles piled up 31 digs to go with 11 kills. Zindars finished with 21 assists and 23 digs. Andi Luth had 23 digs for Shiloh.

■ Milford 2, St. Anne 1. The visiting Bearcats battled to a 25-23, 19-25, 25-22 victory behind Elizabeth Duis’ 13 assists and 20 digs. Teammate Alissa Totheroh contributed 26 digs.

■ Heyworth 2, Clinton 1. Taylor Filkin had eight kills and nine blocks for Clinton in a 28-30, 25-17, 25-22 home loss. Haley Ginger added 16 digs for the Maroons.

■ DeLand-Weldon 2, Argenta-Oreana 0. Alexa Jones had five digs and two kills for the Bombers in a 25-14, 25-17 home defeat.

In boys’ soccer

■ Champaign Central 9, Eisenhower 0.
The Maroons rolled to a road victory behind hat tricks by Juan Garcia and Jaedon Rodgers. Emmanuel Komba added two goals and two assists.

■ St. Thomas More 6, Iroquois West 0. The Sabers clinched their fifth consecutive Sangamon Valley Conference tournament title with a shutout victory at Gilman. Kyler Jones and Dennis Freeman each recorded hat tricks during the first 20 minutes. For Jones, it was his third consecutive hat trick and fourth three-goal match of the week.

■ Mahomet-Seymour 3, Urbana Uni High 1. Aaron Penick scored twice in the second half to boost the Bulldogs to a road win. Panos Voulgaris tallied the Illineks’ goal.

■ Hoopeston Area 5, Bismarck-Henning 0. Brennan Crose and Elijah Yates each scored two goals for Hoopeston Area in a home win. Goalkeeper Trey Layden recorded three saves for the shutout.

■ St. Joseph-Ogden 2, Clifton Central 1. The Spartans rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit behind goals by Matt Tankersley and Colton Bowser to win a Sangamon Valley Conference tournament match at Gilman.

■ Blue Ridge 3, Unity 1. Dylan Grammer scored two goals, each on assists by Calvin Florey, to lead the Knights to a road victory. Goalkeeper Blayne Zeigler had seven saves for Blue Ridge.

In boys’ golf

■ At Danville.
Devon Gondry shot a 43 and Clayton Bateman carded a 44, leading Schlarman to a 182-197 victory against Westville at Harrison Park Golf Course. Tyler Strako (45) was Westville’s low scorer.

■ At Tuscola. Gunnar Campbell and Jarrett Wallace shot 40s to lead Tuscola to a 166-186 victory against Altamont at Ironhorse Golf Club.

■ At Farmer City. Will Duggins shot a par 36 and won medalist honors by 5 strokes, lifting Blue Ridge to victory in a three-team meet at Woodlawn Country Club. Mason Potts of the Knights tied for second with a 41. Jakob Hobbs led third-place Fisher with a 48.

■ At Oakland. Tri-County and Shiloh each shot 195s in a three-team meet, which was won by the host Titans on a fifth-score tiebreaker. Hayden Kile of Shiloh claimed medalist honors with a 38 for a 5-stroke victory. Austin Thompson paced Tri-County with a 47.

■ At Monticello. Medalist Caleb Bauman’s 42 led Rantoul/PBL to a 177-180 victory against Monticello at Monticello Golf Club. Bauman finished 2 strokes ahead of teammate Keegan Brooks. Four Sages carded 45s to share the team lead.

■ At Gibson City. With four of the top six scorers, Prairie Central defeated GCMS 166-174 at Railside Golf Club. Alex Duffy of the Hawks and Devyn Roesch of GCMS shared medalist honors with 37s.

■ At Danville. Courtney LaFoe shot a 41 to capture medalist honors by 5 strokes and lead Salt Fork to a 179-204 victory against Chrisman at Wolf Creek Golf Club. Austin Merritt paced the Cardinals with a 46.

In girls’ golf

■ At Mahomet.
Emily Trolia of Mahomet-Seymour and Evelyn Brand of Monticello shot 1-over-par 37s to share medalist honors, but Trolia had more support as the Bulldogs won the team competition 187-195 at Lake of the Woods Golf Course. Maddie Birckbichler (49) of M-S was the only other golfer with a sub-50 score.

■ At Gibson City. GCMS won for the first time this season, defeating Prairie Central 227-243 behind medalist Emily Allen’s 51 at Railside Golf Club. Teammate Jordynn Marcum (57) placed fourth.

■ At Bloomington. LeRoy swept the second through fourth individual spots and rode that depth to a 210-213 victory against Bloomington at Highland Park Golf Course. Runner-up Abbie Lewis shot a 50 for the Panthers, while Courtney Monier and Jess Wohlwend tied for third with 52s.

■ At Charleston. St. Thomas More finished last in a three-team meet at Charleston Country Club despite a runner-up score of 47 by Sabers senior Caroline Dodds.

In girls’ swimming

■ At Champaign.
Tithi Bera and Emma Garcia-Canga each placed second in two individual events and contributed to Centennial’s runner-up finish in the 200-yard medley relay in a 128-44 loss to Normal West.

In girls’ tennis

■ Normal Community 9, Champaign Central 0.
Kelly Wright won five games at No. 5 singles, putting up the toughest struggle for the Maroons in a dual-meet loss at Atkins Tennis Center.

■ GCMS 5, Watseka 4. Carson Arends, Meaghan Sharp and Shirley Keigher each won singles and doubles matches for the Falcons in a home dual-meet victory.
