Wednesday's prep highlights: M-S boys' golfers win

In golf

■ At Urbana CC. Mitchell Hockman was medalist with a 39, leading the Mahomet-Seymour boys past Bismarck-Henning and Urbana. David Warren shot 40 for the runner-up Blue Devils. Urbana, which was led by J.T. Donahue’s 42, was third.

■ At Urbana CC. Caroline Dodds earned medalist honors with a 49 for St. Thomas More’s girls, but the Sabers lost by 17 strokes to LeRoy.

■ At Brookhill GC. JC Taylor shot 41 for runner-up Champaign Central (170) in Rantoul. Caleb Gossett shot a 41 for Rantoul/PBL (175), which trailed the Maroons and Mattoon (152).

■ At Shagbark CC. Gwen Orr (43) beat teammate Lindsey Luehrsen by 1 stroke for medalist honors, and the duo led the Iroquois West girls past GCMS.

In boys’ action, Preston Young (39), Austin Percy (41) and Devyn Roesch (42) led GCMS (14-3) to a 6-stroke victory against Iroquois West, which got a 37 from medalist Clark Fink.

■ At Hickory Point GC. Gunnar Campbell was second with a 39 as the Tuscola boys beat Meridian and St. Teresa in Decatur.

■ At UI Blue Course. Medalist Katie Sullivan (45) led Centennial’s girls past Mahomet-Seymour in Savoy. The Bulldogs were led by Emily Trolia (48).

■ At Geneva Hills. Balance led Tri-County’s boys (188) to a 1-stroke win in Clinton, Ind. Five Titans shot 50 or better, led by 45s from Brandon Getche and Austin BoEs. John Porter of runner-up Chrisman and Shiloh’s Hayden Kile each shot 43.

In girls’ tennis

■ Central 5, STM 4. Abagail Demlow and Maddie King won in singles and teamed for a doubles win, but the Sabers lost at Atkins Tennis Center.

■ Watseka 5, Kankakee 0. Abby Fischer won her singles and doubles matches, helping the visiting Warriors (4-1) earn a sweep.

■ Mattoon 6, Centennial 3. Sophie Kim and Gressa Olsson won in singles, but the Chargers lost at Atkins Tennis Center.

In boys’ soccer

■ Centennial 1, U-High 1. Diamond Williams‘ second-half goal evened the score and helped the visiting Chargers earn a tie.

In girls’ swimming

■ At Champaign. Clare Ramsey (500-yard freestyle), Sophie Herr (50 free) and Haley Plattner (100 breaststroke) won events and also swam on the victorious 200 medley relay team, helping Central edge Urbana 93-89 in a Big 12 dual meet.

Gabi Rajic won the 200 individual medley, Ali Slaughter won the 100 backstroke and Penny Yue Xu won the 100 free, and all three swam legs on two winning relays for Urbana.
