Monday's highlights: Khachaturian ties for second at Big 12 meet

In boys’ golf

■ At Normal.
Christian Khachaturian shot a 1-under-par 71 to tie for second place and lead Centennial to third place in the Big 12 Conference tournament at Ironwood Golf Course. Riley Thompson of fourth-place Champaign Central carded a 76 and tied for seventh. Isaac Overman of Centennial tied for ninth with a 77.

■ At Danville. Runner-up Andy Bott shot a 38 to lead Bismarck-Henning to an 8-stroke win in a three-team meet at Harrison Park Golf Course. David Warren of B-H tied for third with a 40. Alex Portwood (48) was the low scorer for third-place Milford.

■ At Oakland. Lane Weston carded a 39 to win medalist honors and lead Salt Fork to a 179-184 victory against Tri-County at Norton Knolls Golf Course. Weston finished 1 stroke ahead of TC’s Brandon Getche.

■ At Farmer City. Blue Ridge rolled to a 43-stroke victory in a three-team meet at Woodlawn Country Club behind medalist Will Duggins’ 39. Mason Potts and Justin Jamison of the Knights tied for second with 41s.

■ At Decatur. St. Teresa produced the medalist, but Monticello used its superior depth to claim a 186-216 victory at Hickory Point Golf Course. Collin Gortner (45) was low scorer for the Sages.

■ At Eureka. Bryce Nowak fired a 1-over 35 to lead Prairie Central to a 14-stroke victory in a four-team meet at Kaufman Park Golf Course. Cody Bauman (40) was low scorer for runner-up Rantoul/PBL.

■ At Onarga. Medalist Clark Fink (38) and two teammates — Zach Small (42) and Alec Small (42) — swept the top three spots, lifting Iroquois West to a 169-187 victory against Grant Park and Shagbark Golf and Country Club.

■ At Gibson City. Runner-up Kevin Roesch shot a 44 to lead GCMS to a 16-stroke win in a three-team meet at Railside Golf Club. Burl Gillespie (43) of third-place Watseka took medalist honors. Shane Irby (46) was low scorer for second-place Cissna Park.

■ At Urbana. St. Thomas More finished second by 1 stroke in a three-team meet at Urbana Country Club despite medalist Chris Tate’s 38.

In girls’ golf
■ At Savoy.
Mia Miller of Champaign Central and Katie Sullivan of Centennial shots 98s and tied for seventh place at the Big 12 Conference tournament at the University of Illinois Blue Course. Fourth-place Centennial placed three scorers among the top 12 (plus ties). Katie Brown (99) tied for ninth and Lindsey Wisniewski (100) tied for 12th.

■ At Farmer City. Led by medalist Courtney Monier (45), LeRoy had five of the top six scorers in a 187-215 victory against Blue Ridge at Woodlawn Country Club. Liz Cordes (49) was low scorer for the Knights.

■ At Onarga. Lindsey Luehrsen shot a 42 to win medalist honors by 5 strokes and lead Iroquois West to a 186-197 victory against Grant Park at Shagbark Golf and Country Club.

■ At Mahomet. Zach Paragi and Alex Marcusiu shot 42s to share medalist honors and lead Mahomet-Seymour to a 180-195 win against Judah Christian at Lake of the Woods Golf Course. Brendan Black paced the Tribe with a 44.

■ At Urbana. Taylor During (49) was low scorer for St. Thomas More in a 186-216 loss to Effingham St. Anthony at Urbana Country Club.

In volleyball
■ Champaign Central 2, Charleston 0.
Kelley McDonald and Emma Atkinson combined for 28 assists to help the Maroons pull out a 25-21, 28-26 road win. Maddie LeGrande had 12 kills for Central, while Katie Sloniger (15 digs) and Erin Roux (12 digs) paced the Maroon defense.

■ Rantoul 2, PBL 1. Carson Church’s 12 kills and six service aces helped the Eagles fend off visiting PBL 25-18, 24-26, 25-19. Kaylee Denton racked up 29 assists for Rantoul, and teammate Samantha Nigh contributed 16 digs. Kailey Kleinert had 10 kills for the Panthers.

■ Bement 2, Arthur Okaw Christian 0. The Bulldogs earned a 25-17, 25-12 home victory behind Taylor Wegrich’s eight kills, six digs and two service aces. Abby Trott had 19 assists for Bement. Layne Kauffman led Okaw Christian with seven digs.

■ Watseka 2, Donovan 0. Maddie Pfingsten racked up 25 assists for unbeaten Watseka in a 25-8, 25-6 home victory. Colleen Suchy had five service aces for the Warriors (25-0).

■ Cerro Gordo 2, Decatur Christian 1. The visiting Broncos pulled out a 25-15, 22-25, 25-11 victory behind Leah Henricks’ nine kills and 14 digs. Stephanie Shook totaled 16 digs for CG.

■ El Paso-Gridley 2, GCMS 0. Allyson Barnes had eight digs for the Falcons in a 25-15, 25-17 home loss.

■ Chrisman 2, Hutsonville 0. Shelby Warner’s seven kills and two blocks lifted the Cardinals to a 25-17, 25-13 home win.

■ St. Joseph-Ogden 2, Westville 0. Karlie Baker’s 27 assists propelled the Spartans to a 25-5, 25-9 home victory. Teammate Shelby Simmons contributed 10 kills and eight digs. Mariah Rolinitis had three kills and three digs for the Tigers.

■ Blue Ridge 2, LeRoy 1. Emily Zelhart’s 19 assists, 13 digs and three service aces rallied the Knights to a 20-25, 25-22, 25-22 home win. Amber Blazek had 13 kills and Taylor Builta contributed 13 digs for Blue Ridge. Kayle Beadles racked up 29 digs for the Panthers and teammate Briana Retter finished with 25 assists.

■ Judah Christian 2, Villa Grove 0. Kristina Lee had six kills for the Tribe in a 25-13, 25-4 road victory.

■ Heritage 2, Tuscola 1. The Hawks outbattled visiting Tuscola 25-21, 23-25, 25-18 behind Jen Lannon’s 16 digs and Taylor Wienke’s 20 assists. Morgan Little racked up 25 assists and Lana Little finished with nine kills for the Warriors.

■ Fisher 2, Ridgeview 0. Jessie Head had three kills and two blocks for the Bunnies in a 25-18, 25-13 home win. Carissa Tinsley led Ridgeview with three kills and four assists.

■ Iroquois West 2, South Newton (Ind.) 0. The host Raiders won 25-23, 25-22 behind Morgan Small’s six kills and six digs. Teammate Taylor Cultra added six blocks, four kills and three service aces.

■ Cissna Park 2, Milford 0. Addison Stoller’s seven kills and four solo blocks boosted the Timberwolves to a 25-19, 25-13 road victory. Hillary Hines contributed six kills, six digs and two solo blocks to the win.

In boys’ soccer
■ Urbana 7, Mahomet-Seymour 0.
Gesi Muharremi and Dann Musasa had two goals apiece and goalkeeper Jack Parrott recorded four saves for the Tigers in a home shutout win. Eric Orta and Patrick McQueen each contributed two saves.

■ Normal U-High 3, Champaign Central 1. David Zenge scored the visiting Maroons’ lone goal on an assist by Feli Keti.

■ Urbana Uni High 7, Warrensburg-Latham/Maroa-Forsyth 0. Randall Hornbaker and Panos Voulgaris each scored twice and had two assists apiece for the Illineks in a home win.

■ Judah Christian 3, Cornerstone Christian 1. Sam Harris’ goal and assist helped the Tribe (9-2-2) clinch the East Central Illinois Conference title with a victory at Bloomington.

■ St. Thomas More 1, Monticello 1. Luke Hanselman’s penalty-kick goal in the second half lifted the Sages to a road tie. Dennis freeman gave STM a 1-0 lead in the first half. Goalkeeper John walker recorded nine saves for the Sabers.

■ Danville 7, Bismarck-Henning 0. After a scoreless first half, the Vikings erupted for seven goals, including five in a 10-minute span. Jordan Allen scored the first goal on a 25-yard shot in the 52nd minute. Goalkeeper Cameron Griffin preserved the shutout with four saves.

■ St. Joseph-Ogden 2, Mattoon 2. Colton Bowser and Bjoern Voll scored for the Spartans in a home tie.

■ Fisher/GCMS 5, Unity 2. Jake Brewer’s two goals propelled the Bunnies to a home victory. Hunter Lowry assisted on three Fisher/GCMS scores.

■ Watseka 4, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 2. Nick Morales scored twice in the second half to lift the Warriors to a road win.

In girls’ tennis
■ Danville 9, Champaign Central 0.
Rachael Lewis and Taylor Ellis each won singles matches without dropping a game as the Vikings’ rolled at home.
