Prep highlights: Central’s Heiser dazzles in pool

In girls' swimming

At Champaign. Champaign Central's Maddie Heiser won the 100-yard butterfly and the 50 freestyle. Teammates River Jones (100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke) and Ally Miller (200 individual medley and 100 backstroke) joined Heiser as multi-event winners as the Maroons won 147-33 over Urbana. For the Tigers, Jenna Horner took third in both the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle.

In boys' soccer

Blue Ridge 3, Warrensburg/Latham 1. Traycen Gilman scored once in each half and Landon Magenheimer sealed the win. Brenden Flannell posted two assists.

In boys' golf

At Monticello.
 Noah Wright broke Monticello's program record for a nine-hole meet by two strokes with a score of 31 to lead the Sages to a 12-shot win over Centennial. Calvin Fisher tied for second overall with Centennial's Connor Hagan with a score of 36.

At Urbana. Mahomet-Seymour's Adam Woller and Bismarck-Henning's Hunter Keith tied with a score of 40. B-H finished on top with a 169 to beat the Bulldogs by eight shots.

Bismarck-Henning's Skyler Mitchell and Mahomet-Seymour's Corbin Neef each carded a 42.

At Savoy. Trey Van Winkle registered a 40 and Mitch St. Peter finished with 42 to lead Rantoul/Paxton-Buckley-Loda to a score of 175, good for second in a three-team meet with Mattoon and Champaign Central. Sam Wells tallied a 41 for the Maroons, which finished a stroke behind the Eagles.

At Effingham. Lucas Tay shot a 43 and Wade Baillon came in with a 44 as St. Thomas More fell to St. Anthony by a score of 171-182.

At Watseka. Cam Barragree shot a 45 as Watseka finished second with a score of 212 in a three-team meet with Beecher and Momence.

In girls' golf

At Urbana. St. Thomas More's Alaina Bowie continued her impressive start to the season by shooting a 37 to take home medalist honors in a 176-212 win over LeRoy. Kait Asklund and Sammy Miller each carded scores of 45 while Mia Kirby shot a 47.

At Savoy. Claire Sherrick shot a 41 to lead Centennial to a 192-217 win over Mahomet-Seymour. The Bulldogs' Emma Amjad and Jaden Klaustallied the next best scores by each netting a pair of 49's.

At Watseka. Summer Cramer shot a 43 to lead Watseka to a 193-228 win over Iroquois West, which was led by Taylor McTaggart's 48.

In girls' tennis

At Urbana. St. Thomas More won everything but the No. 3 doubles match in an 8-1 win over Champaign Central. Mia Stipes won at No. 1 doubles and teamed with Delaney Tressler to win at No. 1 doubles.

At Champaign. Centennial's Madison Scaggs dominated her match at No. 1 singles with scores of 6-0, 6-0 while Mary Woods won her No. 2 singles match by dropping only two games. The Chargers won 8-1 over Mattoon.
