Hanselman, Sages move on

BLOOMINGTON — Five different players scored for Monticello in its 5-1 win against Bloomington Central Catholic in Wednesday’s boys’ soccer sectional semifinal.

Sages coach Dan Burkybile expected nothing less.

“We’re getting results from everybody lately,” he said. “It’s a team-type thing. Everyone’s stepping up to the plate.”

Luke Hanselman had a goal and two assists and goalie Ryan Schaub had 10 saves as the Sages (13-7-2) advanced to Friday’s 4 p.m. title match against Williamsville.

Michael Clark, Zach Armstrong, Richard Peake and Clay Burgener also scored for the Sages, who led 2-1 at halftime.

In volleyball

Centennial 2, Chatham Glenwood 0. A night after losing out on a chance to win a share of the Big 12 volleyball title, Centennial swept Chatham Glenwood 25-16, 25-14. Alayna Jackson had eight kills and Lexi Hall had 16 assists for the Chargers.
