Beat goes on for Urbana soccer

URBANA —  Playoff soccer seems to bring out the best in Urbana.

The Tigers, who finished second at state a year ago, stayed on track to get back with a 3-1 win against Normal University High on a wet Wednesday.

Next up for the Tigers: a rematch against Rochester, which beat Springfield in a shootout in Wednesday’s first sectional semifinal which was delayed by lightning.
Urbana lost to Rochester 3-0 in the regular season.

Against Normal U-High, Dann Musasa scored off a pass from Gesi Muharremi to create a 1-1 halftime tie.  After the break, Saul Downie assisted on Daniel Leal‘s go-ahead goal.

An own goal created the final score.

That Urbana played well defensively was no surprise. The Tigers have been stingy throughout a 3-0 postseason run, Wednesday’s win following back-to-back shutouts of Mahomet-Seymour and Champaign Central.
