1. Champaign Central    9-1    1    Maroons earned their seventh consecutive win Tuesday by dousing Danville, which followed victories over Uni High and STM.

Hope Hambleton tallied eight points, two aces, 13 assists and 10 digs in a convincing 25-16, 25-16 victory for the Trojans (3-4, 1-0) over their Vermilion Valley Conference foe. Madison Brown notched 14 digs for the visiting Tigers (1-2, 0-1).

A blockade of Bunnies

FISHER — Has Robbie Dinkins ever been involved with a team like his 2018 Fisher/Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley boys' soccer program?

The answer, surprisingly, is yes.

Back when Dinkins was involved with Wilmington boys' basketball, he oversaw a group through two years of middle school play before leading the ensuing high school freshman team to a 15-1 ledger.

Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 56, Momence 14. Caleb Lahey rushed for 171 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries, with the visiting Blue Devils bursting out to a 36-7 halftime lead and never looking back in a nonconference win. Jacob Akins added 156 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries to complement Lahey for BHRA (2-0).

Argenta-Oreana 2, Meridian 1. Camilyn Newbanks finished with 30 assists, nine digs, three kills and three blocks in a 25-19, 18-25, 25-12 victory for the Bombers (6-2).

Wednesday's prep highlights: Centennial, STM stay knotted up

Champaign Central 2, Jacksonville 0. The Maroons (5-2) won 25-15, 25-23 at Jacksonville, thanks to Mira Chopra and Rylee Hinton, who both had six kills.

Comment: Joe Sellett and the Sabers rebounded from that defeat to Central by winning the Peoria Christian Charger Classic last week.
