Wednesday's prep highlights: STM golfers victorious


– BEN DODDS and NATHANIEL KHACHATURIAN tied for second place, each shooting even-par 36 for St. Thomas More in a victory against Tri-Valley and Clinton at Stone Creek. STM's DEREK ROTH and Clinton's LOGAN WOOLRIDGE tied for fourth place at 37.

– Mahomet-Seymour's GARRETT COX carded a 36 and earned medalist honors in leading the Bulldogs to a win against Mount Zion, Eisenhower and MacArthur at Red Tail Run. ADAM GUTH shot a 37 and SETH TROLIA fired a 38 for M-S.


– Danville's RACHAEL LEWIS won singles and doubles matches against St. Thomas More in the nonconference match at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex. Lewis won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and teamed with COURTNEY HART to win 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. STM's MADIE BAILLON won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Danville's AMY SHAH, NEHA PATEL and Hart did not lose a game in singles action.

– ALLISON HANSEN, MARIA MEARS and MICHAELA KEARNEY all won singles matches without dropping a game for Centennial in a 9-0 win against Urbana.


– MARCOS CARDONA scored a pair of goals and JONATHAN LUKUSA added a goal and an assist for Urbana in a 3-1 win against Centennial. The host Chargers got a goal from LONNIE BARNES on an assist from WESTON HORNBAKER.

– DENNIS FORREST and DYLAN HARRIS each scored a pair of goals for Danville in a 7-0 win against Decatur MacArthur in Big 12 action. WESTON DEPRATT, EZIQUIO FLORES and CLAYTON COTTLE also scored. Danville goalkeeper STEPHEN MIELKE stopped three shots for his third consecutive shutout and eighth this season.

– JUAN PORTILLO and JULIO ZACO each had a goal and an assist for Champaign Central in a 4-0 win against Charleston. KANYE SAYON and MICAH WALKER also scored.


– HANNAH WRIGHT and JAKEENYA EVANS finished second and third, respectively, and NEDA SROKA fifth for Champaign Central in a win against Danville. Danville's KIM CARTER was the winner, finishing 36 seconds ahead of Wright. KARA ANDERSON was fourth for the Vikings.

– Danville's JOHNNY LEVERENZ was the overall winner in leading the Vikings to a win against Champaign Central. JOVON SHAW finished third and MATT CLEVELAND fourth for Danville. Champaign Central's ALEX GOODLAD finished second. Teammate KAIN SHIRLEY was fifth.
