Thursday's prep highlights: Spangler, LeRoy golfers shine


– EMILY SPANGLER of Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley shot an 84 to win medalist honors at the Heart of Illinois Conference meet at Weibring Golf Club in Normal. LeRoy won the team title thanks to an 86 from MOLLY MARCUM, who finished second.

– Medalist JORDAN DANZL shot a 72 to lead Salt Fork to the Vermilion Valley Conference team title at Harrison Park in Danville. MAT BOWEN (75), DAVID KEENAN (77) and RYAN ANDERSON (78) helped the Storm sweep the top four spots.

– Ridgeview's JARED ATHERTON shot an 80 to finish third at the Heart of Illinois meet. Fisher's JAKE WARMOUTH (90) finished 15th.

– Salt Fork's HEATHER ELLIS fired a 94 at Harrison Park to win the girls' Vermilion Valley championship.

– SIERRA MYERSCOUGH and KELSEY GALLIVAN each shot 82 and shared medalist honors for champion St. Thomas More at the Sangamon Valley Conference meet. The Sabers, who beat second-place Watseka by 99 strokes, also got an 87 from MEGAN DEEDRICH, who finished third.

– St. Joseph-Ogden's MASON SILVER shot 73 to win the boys' SVC meet. Champion St. Thomas More swept the next four spots. BEN DODDS (76), JOSH KULAS (79), NATHANIEL KHACHATURIAN (80) and AARON PINKERTON (86) led the Sabers, who won by 56 strokes.

– Medalist CARSON PETERSHEIM fired a 38 for Arcola-Arthur, but Villa Grove claimed a 2-stroke vic- tory. DYLAN GREGER and BEN HARNED each shot 39s for the Blue Devils.

– Champaign Central's TRACE COLLINS carded a 44 in a loss to Normal Community in Savoy.

– Medalist CHARLOTTE GOSS fired a 42 to lead Mahomet-Seymour to a win against Champaign Central and Mount Zion. JANE CHOO's 44 led the Maroons.

– Medalist NICK BERGER fired a 35 and teammate STEVEN LOWE a 37 for Judah Christian in a 2-stroke win against Centennial. The Chargers were led by COREY HIRE's 39.


– SYDNEY STONE had 25 assists and six service aces in leading St. Joseph-Ogden to a 25-12, 25-10 win against Clifton Central. The Spartans got four kills and three blocks from JOSEY FRUHLING.

– BAILEY BRYANT and SAMANTHA SIDDENS each had five kills for Bismarck-Henning in a 25-9, 25-9 win against Westville. LAUREN McKENZIE added four aces and 11 assists.

– TINA AGUIRRE's seven kills led Rantoul in a 25-21, 25-22 loss to Eureka. PATRECE McLAIN had seven assists and eight digs.

– MACKENZIE SEIP had seven kills and SAM KOHLBECKER dished out 11 assists for Tuscola in a 25-19, 25-18 win against Monticello. JULIE WALSH's five kills and three digs led the Sages.

– TAYLOR JEAN's seven digs and seven assists led Fisher to a 25-17, 25-10 win against Flanagan. RACHEL KELLY added seven kills, and OLIVIA DOWNS contributed 13 digs.

– SHANNON SIUTS had five kills and six aces to lead St. Thomas More to a 25-12, 25-16 win against Paxton-Buckley-Loda. BECCA MILLAGE added six kills and two aces.

– HANNAH WARREN had five service aces, two kills and two assists, leading Bement to a 25-16, 25-17 win against Lovington.

– HANNAH MILLINGTON had eight kills and CALI WELTON six assists for Argenta-Oreana in a 25-8, 25-20 loss to Shelbyville.

– ALEX PELMORE (seven kills), AUDREY AEILTS (13 assists) and ESTHER KEMPER (18 digs) lifted Champaign Central to a 25-17, 25-17 win against Normal West.

– KAITLYN ZELHART's 16 kills and seven digs led Blue Ridge to a 25-20, 25-19 win against Fieldcrest. DANIELLE THOMPSON added 18 assists for the Knights.

– MEGAN BROUGH had eight kills and three digs for Arthur in a 25-12, 21-25, 25-19 win against Atwood-Hammond. ASHLEY TABB added 10 digs for the Lancers.

– EMMA CABUTTI's nine kills and 11 digs led Mahomet-Seymour in a 25-20, 25-22 win against Olympia. LOGAN MOORE dished out 10 assists for the Bulldogs.

– JANA HUBER (18 digs, five aces), CEDAR RICHARDSON (five kills, five blocks) and KATIE RUTLEDGE (23 assists) led Heritage to a 26-24, 24-26, 25-20 win against Cerro Gordo.

– AMBER MEYER handed out 20 assists, AUTUMN MEYER had eight digs, and KYLA SKINNER and LINDSEY APPLE added seven kills apiece for Tri-County in a 25-14, 25-14 win against Arcola.

– TANAYA BEHL's 17 digs led Villa Grove in a 25-2, 25-23 loss to Shiloh.

– HEATHER BAKER had 12 kills and four blocks for Salt Fork in a 25-20, 27-25 win against Hoopeston Area. MADDY STUTSMAN contributed 17 assists.

– SERENA CALHOUN had 10 kills and DARRIAN CHRZANOSKI had 14 assists for Schlarman in a 25-5, 25-4 win against Georgetown-Ridge Farm.

– SHELBY ROSS' 14 assists, two kills and two aces led Chrisman to a 25-19, 25-22 win against Armstrong-Potomac.


– JACOB HANSELMAN, DREW SCHUMACHER and GARRETT MUMM each scored two goals for Monticello in an 8-0 win against Meridian.

– ZACH CARNAHAN and CONNER YOUHAS each scored second-half goals to lead Oakwood to a 2-1 win against Judah Christian. JUNG HWAN-LEE scored for the Tribe.

– NICK GEERS and SHANE TOWNS scored for St. Joseph-Ogden in a 2-2 draw with Unity. The Rockets got goals from BEN WINN and CRAIG KOCHER.

– JORDAN ROMO, COLTON PARR, ALEX BURKE, BRODIE PIRIE, THOMAS JORDAN and BRODY KEERAN scored goals for Salt Fork-Westville in a 6-2 win against Georgetown-Ridge Farm.

– DARRIN ECKERTY stopped 10 shots and JORDAN SIZEMORE scored a hat trick for Fisher/GCMS in a 4-2 win against Watseka.

– AUSTIN CALHOUN scored twice and assisted on a goal by ADAM PELLEGRINI for Schlarman in a 3-2 win against Hoopeston/Bismarck-Henning. IAN PARK scored twice for H/B-H.


– Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman's MATT AVENATTI finished nine seconds ahead of Bismarck-Henning's KENNETH ALBIN to lead G-RF/C to a win in Chrisman. WYATT AVENATTI finished third and DAVID WILLMING fourth for G-RF/C.

– MEGAN McKEE of G-RF/C won the girls' race in 22 minutes, 5 seconds. Bismarck-Henning's KARI FREE (23:26) was second.

– KELSEY HARDIMON and MICHELLE MOYER finished 1-2 for Monticello in a win against Maroa-Forsyth, Judah Christian and Paxton-Buckley-Loda at Lodge Park.

– STEVE SCHROEDER, LUKE ZOCHER and STU BAULER swept the top three spots for Monticello in a win against Argenta-Oreana, Moweaqua Central A&M and Paxton-Buckley-Loda.


– ELISE ELLINGER, JENNIFER HART, ALYANNA BALANAY, MYISHA HOWARD and TESSA TURNER all won in singles and doubles for Urbana in an 8-1 win against Decatur MacArthur.

– MADIE BAILLON and JIWON YOON won singles matches for St. Thomas More in a 4-1 win against Watseka. MARA FALLON teamed with STEPHANIE AGUAS for a win, and the team of ANDREA McDOWELL and SU-JIN LIM was also victorious.
