Tuesday's prep highlights: Hoopeston/B-H clinches crown

Soccer

– Hoopeston Area/Bismarck-Henning clinched the Vermilion Valley Conference title with a 5-1 victory against Salt Fork/Westville. IAN PARK had three goals and KRAIG VanWIERINGEN added two goals and two assists for the Cornjerkers (12-5-1, 7-1 VVC).

– HUGO SOLORZANO scored as the seventh shooter in a penalty-kick shootout to lift Watseka to a 1-0 victory against Iroquois West.

– LOGAN CRONK and SYNAN NICHOLSON scored in a penalty-kick shootout to lead Oakwood to a 2-1 victory against Georgetown-Ridge Farm for a school-record 12th victory. KEGAN DECKER scored in the first half for the Comets.

– LANDON KENNEDY had a goal and as assist in Danville's 4-1 victory against Mahomet-Seymour. MAC LEVERENZ, DENNIS FORREST and WESTON DePRATT also scored for the Vikings.

– Urbana got three goals from ADAM BLACKMAN and remained in control of the Big 12 Conference title chase with a 4-1 victory against Normal Community. The Tigers (14-2, 8-0 Big 12) are the conference's only unbeaten. Keeper Julian Threlkeld made five saves.

– St. Thomas More raced to a 5-1 halftime lead and held on for a 5-4 victory against St. Joseph-Ogden that clinched the outright Sangamon Valley Conference title. The Sabers (13-6-2) got two goals apiece from JOHN TABB and TRAVIS JOHNSON.

– JUNG HWAN LEE scored for Judah Christian (6-9-1) in the Tribe's 2-1 loss against Bloomington Central Catholic.

– TAHAR BOWEN-PINTO, PAUL SEELEY and ALEJANDRO MESTRE scored for Urbana Uni in a 3-1 victory against Unity.

Tennis

– EMMA PECK's 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles led Danville past Normal Community 8-1, helping the Vikings finish undefeated (8-0) in dual meets for the second consecutive season. AMY SHAH posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.

– NELLI GOLMEEVA, ELLEN MOE, ANNA RODGERS, SHOHAM BAND and SARAH KRESCA posted singles victories in Champaign Central's 7-2 victory against Urbana.

Boys' cross-country

– Schlarman's JESSIE HAHNE was victorious in 16 minutes, 13 seconds in a four-team meet. Team winner Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman was led by runner-up MATT AVENATTI (16:35).

– NICK MARX, KENNETH ALBIN and CHASE CONNELLY swept the top three spots as Bismarck-Henning defeated Oakwood in a dual meet.

– CAMERON HARVEY (16:21) took top honors as Sullivan-Okaw Valley finished undefeated in dual, triangular and quadrangular meets this season by defeating Shelbyville, Tuscola and Arthur.

Girls' cross-country

– Shiloh's SHELBY SMITH won a four-team unscored race at Georgetown in 21:34.

– Oakwood's CIARA PIERCE won in 19:23 in a dual against Bismarck-Henning.

– LISA PONDER of Tuscola posted a 20:25 clocking as the Warriors finished behind Sullivan-Okaw Valley.

Swimming & diving

– Centennial fell to Springfield 97-89 despite two wins from AUDREY RODAWIG (100-yard butterfly, 100 backstroke) and LAURIE JEFFERSON (50 free, diving).

Volleyball

– MEGAN CASAGRANDE had six kills to lead St. Thomas More to a 25-20, 25-16 victory against Fisher. SHANNON SIUTS dished out 11 assists.

– HANNAH WASCHER recorded eight kills and OLIVIA CARTER had seven blocks as Rantoul beat Prairie Central 25-13, 28-26. SARAH OPRONDEK had eight blocks for the Hawks.

– Sullivan defeated Tuscola 25-21, 25-22 behind eight kills and five aces from TABITHA DAVIS.

– AUDREY AEILTS collected 37 assists and ESTHER KEMPER had 30 digs in Central's 23-25, 25-23, 25-21 victory against Mattoon. The Maroons (19-6) also got 10 kills from ALEX PELMORE.

– Mahomet-Seymour got seven kills from BAYLEE O'DONNELL in a 25-20, 25-19 loss to Eureka.

– JULIE WALSH's 11 kills and 20 digs propelled Monticello past Maroa-Forsyth 21-25, 27-25, 30-28. KRISTYN BARRETT dished out 16 assists.

– BAILEE DUNLAP had 11 aces as Judah Christian knocked off Urbana Uni 25-14, 25-23. The Tribe (9-5) got five kills and three blocks from BETH KING. BRENNA FOUTS added 15 assists.

– Salt Fork (18-1, 8-0 VVC) outlasted Schlarman 15-25, 25-18, 25-21 behind 13 kills and eight blocks from HEATHER BAKER. MADDY STUTSMAN added 25 assists and MEGAN McCORD chipped in 14 digs. SERENA CALHOUN had 10 kills for the Hilltoppers.

– McKENZIE WHITE had five blocks and ROBIN HARGRAVE five kills in Urbana's 27-25, 25-20 loss to Normal West. The Tigers (15-5) also got 14 digs from CHRISTIANA STARK.

– Powered by DANIELE HOULT's seven kills and four aces, Chrisman stopped Milford 25-14, 25-20. SHELBY ROSS had 12 assists.

– TAYLOR PIATT's 17 digs led Westville to a 25-13, 25-18 victory against Armstrong-Potomac. KATIE SHAW added four kills.

– MALLORY QUINN had 14 digs as Buckley Christ Lutheran beat Normal Calvary Christian 25-15, 25-18.

– Bismarck-Henning improved to 14-2 with a 25-5, 25-12 victory against Georgetown-Ridge Farm. SHELBY HINES had four kills and MEGAN GLIDEWELL added six digs for the Blue Devils.

– KAYLEE MORMAN had 14 assists in Oakwood's 25-14, 25-17 loss to Hoopeston Area.

– KAITLYN ZELHART's 19 kills and five blocks weren't enough to prevent Blue Ridge's 25-21, 23-25, 25-14 loss to Heyworth.

– LeRoy fell to Tremont 25-15, 25-17 despite four aces from STEPHANIE HOWELL.

– DeLand-Weldon beat Decatur Christian 27-25, 25-5 behind six kills from BRIELLE JONES.

– HANNAH MILLINGTON put down six kills, but Argenta-Oreana lost to Warrensburg-Latham 26-24, 25-13.

– SAVANNA THOMAS had eight kills and MORGAN HICKMAN chipped in 18 assists in Clinton's 25-10, 27-25 loss to Shelbyville.

– BETSY BOGLE had 14 kills to lead Shiloh past Okaw Valley 25-22, 17-25, 25-22 in the Little Okaw Valley Conference tournament consolation bracket. Bement will face Shiloh in Thursday's consolation championship after getting 10 blocks from SABRINA HINTON in a 23-25, 25-23, 25-23 victory against Arcola.
