Thursday's prep highlights: Cocagne propels Centennial

In volleyball

At Champaign. LIBBY COCAGNE had seven kills and five aces for Centennial in a 25-15, 25-13 win against MacArthur.

At Urbana. JAMIE BLUE and HANNAH JOHLAS each had seven kills and JO ELLEN MACHESKY added 15 digs to lead Urbana University to a 25-20, 25-23 win against Arthur Okaw Christian. JULIANA TRACH contributed 13 assists.

At Fairbury. Mahomet-Seymour defeated Prairie Central 25-21, 25-13 behind seven kills from EMMA CABUTTI and six from ELISE DAHLKE. KRISTEN BELYEA (11 assists), MASON MOORE (10 assists) and ABBIE MAGRINI (11 digs) also contributed.

At Cissna Park. JESSICA ALLHANDS had nine kills and three aces for Watseka in a 25-15, 25-19 win against CPCI. KAT GRIMES dished out 17 assists for the Warriors, who improved to 24-5.

At Sullivan. ELISE PONTIOUS had six kills and seven assists to power Monticello to a 25-16, 25-19 win against Sullivan. KAITLYN HUNT added six aces, and JAIMEY WATROUS had nine assists and two aces.

At Chrisman. The Cardinals got six kills, four digs and an ace from DANIELE HOULT in a 25-11, 25-8 win against Hoopeston Area. SHELBY ROSS added 11 assists, three aces and two digs.

At Danville. Bismarck-Henning defeated Schlarman 26-24, 25-14 behind four kills and eight blocks from ABBY BERGMAN. BAILEY BRYANT (three kills) and GRACE HENSOLD each had five blocks.

At Rantoul. TINA AGUIRRE had 11 digs and TAYLOR WOOD added 10 assists for Rantoul in a 25-18, 25-13 loss to Normal U-High.

At Gilman. HALEY PENCE had seven kills, five blocks and seven digs for Iroquois West in a 25-15, 26-24 loss to St. Thomas More.

At Tuscola. MACKENZIE SEIP had 11 kills, six digs and four blocks in leading Tuscola to a 19-25, 25-12, 25-17 win against Maroa-Forsyth. SAM KOHLBECKER handed out 18 assists to go along with five blocks and three kills.

At Tolono. HANNAH MILLINGTON had nine kills and six digs for Argenta-Oreana in a 25-23, 25-19 win against Unity.

At Champaign. Seniors BRENNA FOUTS (11 aces, 12 assists) and CHRISTINA RUMMERY (seven kills) led Judah Christian to a 25-11, 25-14 win against Normal Calvary Baptist.

At Fisher. HANNAH FINK had 17 digs and CARLI CLIFTON had seven kills for Fisher in a 25-23, 26-24 loss to Tremont.

At Champaign. Champaign Central defeated Eisenhower 25-8, 25-8 behind seven kills from JAELYN WESTFIELD and 10 digs from HALLE SILLS.

At Milford. ERIKA SIEBERNS (six kills, five blocks), SHANON REARDON (16 digs) and SHAYLA BOEN (14 assists) led Armstrong-Potomac to an 18-25, 25-10, 25-19 win against Milford. MARY DELANEY added six aces.

In boys' soccer

Mahomet-Seymour 3, Monticello 2. TYLER MOXLEY scored twice to power the visiting Bulldogs.

Oakwood 4, Salt Fork/Westville 3. GARRETT BARR scored twice, including the game-winner in overtime to lead the Comets. Salt Fork/Westville's JORDAN ROMO scored twice.

Unity 4, Judah Christian 1. BEN WINN and JOHN HUGHES each scored a pair of goal to lift the host Rockets.

Schlarman 5, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 0. NIGEL MARTINDILL found the back of the net four times and assisted on another goal for the visiting Hilltoppers.

Urbana 8, MacArthur 0. JONATHAN LUKUSA recorded a hat trick and WILL GIBBENS added a pair of goals and two assists to power the host Tigers.

Watseka 2, St. Anne 1. JOSH DOUGLAS and ANKIT PATEL each scored a goal for the visiting Warriors.

Fisher/GCMS 8, Heyworth 0. JORDAN SIZEMORE recorded a hat trick in the first 24 minutes of the match and assisted on four other goals to lead the Bunnies on Senior Night.

In cross-country

At Mattoon. Centennial's BLAS GARCIA-CANGA finished fourth and teammate AARON MILLER seventh as the Chargers won a five-team meet at Lake Land College. JACKSON SHEDELBOWER (11th) and REIS DeSANTIS (12th) also finished in the top 15.

In girls' tennis

At Decatur. MADIE BAILLON, ALYSSA VODACEK, ABAGAIL DEMLOW and DANI THOMAS all won singles matches for St. Thomas More in a 5-4 win against St. Teresa. Thomas and ANDREA McDOWELL teamed to win in doubles.

At Champaign. ALLISON HANSEN and SHELBY QUIGLEY each picked up singles wins for Centennial in a 6-3 loss to Effingham St. Anthony.

EMILY LYDIC and ANNIE ROH won in doubles for the Chargers.
