Athletes of the Week: Cox and Choquette

Garrett Cox. Mahomet-Seymour, Senior, Golf

Recently: Tied for third in the Class 2A state meet with a 151. As a junior, he tied for 19th at state.

In his own words: "The last two years were really great. Winning a (team) state championship and then this year making state individually was a neat experience."

I'm always texting ... Kyle Howard.

I'm dying to see ... "50/50".

I need concert tickets to ... Drake.

My first job was ... working in my garage, detailing cars.

My longest drive was ... 312 yards at Red Tail in Decatur.

Ever had a hole-in-one? Only at the par-3 course at Lake of the Woods. I've made six.

My order on the 19th hole is ... Mountain Dew and a hot dog.

In 10 years ... hopefully I'm playing on the PGA Tour, but if not, a PGA professional at a golf course in the area.

I'm driving ... a black 2004 Nissan Maxima.

Recently: Second in the Big 12 meet. Her time of 17:59 marked the second time this year she had broken 18 minutes. Her 17:49 time is the area's second best thus far this year for 3 miles.

In her words: "It was really exciting. and I'm glad I had a really good race."
