Wednesday's prep highlights: PBL runners sparkle

In cross-country

At Paxton. Paxton-Buckley-Loda won the boys' and girls' team titles at its own invitational. AUDREY BLOOMQUIST was fourth to lead the Panthers in the girls' race. Schlarman's JESSE HAHNE won the boys' race. PBL's HAYDEN YOUNG, NICK PORTER and GRANT IVERSON finished second through fourth, respectively, in the boys' race.

In golf

At Savoy. Tuscola's CAMERON WESTJOHN shot a 36 to lead the Warriors against Champaign Central. JC TAYLOR shot a 49 for the Maroons.

At Harrison Park. CHASE HENRY shot 42 as Westville beat Chrisman by tiebreaker. Chrisman's AUSTIN MERRITT was medalist with a 39.

In volleyball

CPCI tournament. MARIA WILKENING had seven aces as Cissna Park beat Kankakee 25-16, 26-24 and Donovan 25-18, 25-16. HILLARY HINES had seven kills and three aces in the win against Donovan.

Armstrong-Potomac beat Donovan 25-17, 25-16 as MEGHAN VINSON had 12 assists and RACHEL MILES had seven kills. A-P also beat Kankakee 25-23, 15-25, 15-9 behind Miles (eight kills) and ERIKA SIEBERNS (three blocks).

SJ-O 2, Oakwood 0. SHELBY SIMMONS had five kills and NICHOLLE BROWN added four blocks as the visiting Spartans won 25-14, 25-10. Peyton Jones had seven blocks and Makayla Gayler two aces in the loss.
