Thursday's prep highlights: Marganski leads Hilltoppers

In volleyball

Rantoul 2, Prairie Central 0. Hannah Wascher's 10 kills and five blocks boosted the Eagles to a 25-20, 25-15 road win. Maddie Bounds had 10 kills for the Hawks.

Tremont 2, Ridgeview 0. Taylor Hastings had four kills and eight digs for the host Mustangs in a 25-10, 25-10 loss.

Tri-County 2, Villa Grove 0. The Titans improved to 9-2 with a 25-5, 25-7 home win. Kyla Skinner had nine kills and Amber Meyer totaled 18 assists for Tri-County.

Schlarman 2, Hoopeston Area 0. Jordan Marganski and Laura Gross each had seven kills for the Hilltoppers in a 25-13, 25-8 win at Danville.

Fisher 2, Urbana Uni High 1. Gina Masko's seven kills and Alyssa Chapman's six blocks propelled the host Bunnies to a 22-25, 25-15, 25-18 win. Emma Hoyer had 12 kills and 16 digs for the Illineks.

Chrisman 2, Westville 1. Abby Bush had five kills and four digs to help Chrisman pull out a 25-22, 18-25, 25-14 home win.

Armstrong-Potomac 2, Salt Fork 1. Rachel Miles' double-double (11 kills, 23 digs) and Morgan Zindars' 20 digs boosted A-P to a 22-25, 26-24, 25-22 home win. Emilie McFadden had 10 kills and Kalyn Learnard racked up 15 digs for the Storm.

Bement 2, Atwood-Hammond 0. The visiting Bulldogs won 25-15, 25-15 behind Sabrina Hinton's six blocks, seven digs and four kills.

Maroa-Forsyth 2, Argenta-Oreana 0. Taylor Fleming had four digs for the Bombers in a 25-14, 25-22 road loss.

El Paso-Gridley 2, Blue Ridge 0. Jessica Schrock had six kills for the Knights in a 25-23, 27-25 home defeat.

Tuscola 2, Unity 1. Tuscola outbattled the visiting Rockets 25-21, 25-27, 25-14. Joan Maxwell had 10 digs for Unity.

Arthur Okaw Christian 2, Bloomington Cornerstone 0. Alysha Beachy's seven kills and three blocks lifted Arthur Okaw Christian to a 25-6, 25-15 road win.

St. Joseph-Ogden 2, Cissna Park 0. The visiting Spartans won 25-13, 25-15 behind Shelby Simmons' nine kills and Sydney Stone's 23 assists. Hillary Hines had four kills and two blocks for Cissna Park.

Arcola 2, Okaw Valley 0. Taylor Edwards' nine kills and four digs propelled Arcola to a 25-12, 25-12 home win.

Oakwood 2, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 1. Peyton Jones had seven kills and combined with Harlena Hardin for 17 blocks, leading the Comets to a 25-12, 23-25, 25-18 home win.

GCMS 2, Flanagan 1. The host Falcons rallied to a 20-25, 25-18, 25-20 win behind Katie Massey's 10 kills and two blocks. Blythe Borton contributed four service aces for GCMS.

Monticello 2, Meridian 1. Grace Blickhan had eight kills and Katie Lienhart had five blocks to lead the Sages to a 25-18, 21-25, 25-20 road win.

Milford 2, Bismarck-Henning 1. Morgan Gerbsch had 16 digs for the Blue Devils in a 17-25, 25-18, 25-22 home loss.

Mahomet-Seymour 2, Pontiac 1. Elise Dahlke had 10 kills and Hannah Charter totaled 16 digs for the Bulldogs in an 18-25, 25-11, 26-24 road win.

DeLand-Weldon 2, Judah Christian 0. Despite Emily Gewirtz's 18 digs, the visiting Tribe lost 25-13, 25-15.

Arthur-Lovington 2, Martinsville 0. Karly Goodman’s seven kills and three service aces led A-L to a 25-15, 25-19 road win.

Sullivan 2, Shelbyville 1. The visiting Redskins prevailed 13-25, 25-20, 25-19 behind Witten Crawford’s nine kills, four digs and two blocks. Taylor Wallis contributed 10 digs, 19 assists and two service aces to the win.

Clinton 2, Central A&M 0. Morgan Hickman’s 12 digs, 14 assists and two blocks lifted the Maroons to a 25-23, 25-15 road win.

In boys' soccer

Bloomington 4, Champaign Central 1. Daniel Kadima gave the Maroons a 1-0 halftime lead, but Bloomington dominated the second half to earn a road win.

Monticello 7, Unity 2. Luke Hanselman scored twice and assisted on two goals, leading Monticello to a home win. Zach Armstrong also had two goals for the Sages (4-4).

Judah Christian 1, St. Joseph-Ogden 0. Alec Henderson's second-half goal lifted the Tribe (4-4-0) to a home win.

Oakwood 5, G-RF 0. The host Comets rolled past Georgetown-Ridge Farm behind Cole Burris' hat trick. Synan Nicholson scored an unassisted goal and assisted on each of Oakwood's other scores. Comets goalkeeper Landon Turner had four saves.

Hoopeston Area/Bismarck-Henning 2, Salt Fork-Westville 0. Skyler Bernard and Chase Bouse scored first-half goals and goalkeeper Trey Anderson recorded a 12-save shutout as the visiting Cornjerkers handed Salt Fork-Westville its first loss. Aaron Marx racked up 18 saves for the Storm (6-1-0).

Mahomet-Seymour 4, Mattoon 4. Andrew Shroyer scored three goals, including two unassisted, for host Mahomet-Seymour.

Urbana Uni High 7, Schlarman 0. Tarik Koric's hat trick and Peter Ivanov's two goals propelled the Illineks to a road win.

In boys' cross-country

At Decatur. Danville's Johnny Leverenz finished second in the seven-team MacArthur Invitational. Leverenz was clocked in 15 minutes, 33 seconds — 17 seconds behind winner Jake Brown of team champion Mount Zion. Caleb Hummer of the Vikings placed fifth in 15:46. Centennial edged Champaign Central by one point for third place. Reis DeSantis was the top Chargers finisher, eighth in 16:08. Kain Shirley, who placed 11th in 16:21, led the Maroons.

At Monticello. Led by runner-up Matthew Knipfer, St. Joseph-Ogden had five of the top seven finishers and scored a 23-38 victory against Monticello. Andrew Hanselman of the Sages won in 16:28, edging Knipfer by one second.

In girls' cross-country

At Decatur. Danville had two top-12 finishers and finished fourth in the six-team MacArthur Invitational. Mercedes Elliott (19:08) placed fourth for the Vikings, and teammate Kim Carter (19:38) was 12th. Centennial did not have enough entrants to qualify for a team score but placed three runners among the top 20, led by ninth-place Rebecca Kaefring (19:27).

At Monticello. Hannah Houska led a 1-3-4 finish by Monticello that carried the Sages to a 21-34 victory against St. Joseph-Ogden. Houska finished in 19:54. Alyssa Pridemore of the Spartans was second in 20:01.

In boys' golf

At Pontiac. Prairie Central edged Normal University High by 2 strokes to win the Livingston County Invitational at Wolf Creek Golf Club. Kyler Hoffman of the Hawks shot a 77 to tie for third place, while teammate Lincoln Slagel was a stroke behind in fifth. Kris Trhlik of Ridgeview finished sixth with a 79.

At LeRoy. LeRoy's Justin Morgan shot a 43 to finish fourth in a three-team meet at LeRoy Country Club. The Panthers placed third.

At Danville. Austin Toler and Andy Bott each shot par 36s to lead Bismarck-Henning to a 154-187 win against Schlarman at Harrison Park Golf Course. The Blue Devils improved to 19-0.

At Savoy. Medalist Christian Khachaturian (34) and runner-up Ryan Hunt (37) led Centennial to a 153-162 win against Mahomet-Seymour at the University of Illinois Blue Course. Blake Jackson and Michael Flavin of the Bulldogs each carded 39s to tie for third.

At Loda. Shane Irby shot a 42 to earn medalist honors and teammate Jon Tarro finished second with a 46 to lead Cissna Park to a 187-217 win against Fisher at Lakeview Country Club. Sheldon Stumpf was the Bunnies' low scorer with a 49.

At Mahomet. Nick Berger shot a 37 to win medalist honors by 5 strokes, a margin that allowed Judah Christian to edge Monticello 181-184 for the title of a three-team meet at Lake of the Woods Golf Course. Daniel Welling of the Sages placed second.

At Farmer City. Led by C.J. Bishop, four Blue Ridge golfers scored between 41 and 43, boosting the Knights to a 168-173 win against El Paso-Gridley at Woodlawn Country Club.

In girls' golf

At Sullivan. Runner-up Emmalee Hortenstine shot a 47 for Sullivan in a 214-237 loss to Mount Zion at the Sullivan Country Club.

At Farmer City. Runner-up Megan Tsevelekos shot a 48 for Blue Ridge in a 206-235 loss to El Paso-Gridley at Woodlawn Country Club.

At Bloomington. Evelyn Brand (36) and Kaza Combs (40) finished second and third to lead Monticello to second place in a three-team meet at The Links of Ireland Grove.

Abbie Lewis (41) was the low scorer for third-place LeRoy.

At Pontiac. Amber Tabaka shot a 93 and finished eighth in a scorecard playoff in the Livingston County Invitational at Wolf Creek Golf Club. The Bulldogs and Prairie Central tied for fourth place in the 11-team meet. The Hawks' Emily Heiser, who matched Tabaka's 93, placed 10th.
