Tuesday's prep highlights: M-S girls' golfers advance to state

In girls’ golf
At Urbana. Prairie Central’s JACKIE DUFFY was the individual medalist and the Hawks (397) finished third behind champion Bishop McNamara (370) and runner-up Mahomet-Seymour (384) in advancing to the Class 1A state finals. PC’s EMILY HEISER added a 95 and JENNA HALE shot 99.
Mahomet-Seymour punched its second straight trip to the state meet behind BROOKLYN HILDRETH’s 88. M-S also got a 92 from EMILY TROLIA and a 99 from AMBER TABAKA.
Salt Fork’s COURTNEY LaFOE (92) and Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley’s KATIE SPANGLER (92) advanced as individuals.

In volleyball
Champaign Central 2, Decatur MacArthur 0. The visiting Maroons won 25-17, 25-22 behind 20 kills from JAELYN WESTFIELD.
Deer Creek-Mackinaw 2, Fisher 0. CARLI CLIFTON had two kills for the host Bunnies in the 25-11, 25-16 loss.
LeRoy 2, Flanagan 0. The host Panthers picked up a 25-23, 27-25 win behind eight kills, nine digs and two aces from KAYLIN VALLERO. TORI SWANSON added six kills and 10 digs, and NATALIE PLIURA had 21 digs.
Urbana University 2, Decatur Christian 0. EMMA HOYER had eight kills and five digs to power the visiting Illineks to a 29-27, 25-19 win. JULIANA TRACH (10 assists) and KAILA SIMPSON each had four aces.
Bement 2, Martinsville 1. Behind 11 kills, 11 blocks and seven digs from SABRINA HINTON, the host Bulldogs claimed a 22-25, 25-13, 25-20 win. ABBY TROTT (17 digs, 14 assists) and TAYLOR WEGRICH (seven kills, eight digs, three aces) also contributed.
Tri-Valley 2, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 0. JESS MEYER had five assists for the visiting Falcons in the 25-13, 25-8 loss.
Normal Community 2, Urbana 0. MADISON COOPER had 13 assists and ALAYNA JACKSON had seven kills for the visiting Tigers in a 25-18, 25-22 loss.
Sullivan 2, Argenta-Oreana 0. TAYLOR WALLIS (19 assists, 13 digs) and BRITTIN BOYER (nine kills, five blocks, two digs) led the host Redskins to a 25-18, 25-16 victory.
St. Thomas More 2, Clifton Central 0. LOUISETTE LUKUSA (five kills, four blocks), LEXI WALLEN (seven kills) and HANNAH MURRAY (24 assists) led the visiting Sabers to a 25-18, 25-15 win.
Arthur-Lovington 2, Villa Grove 0. EMILY SEEGMILLER had eight aces and KARLY GOODMAN and JULIA COHAN each had seven kills as the visiting Lancers cruised to a 25-3, 25-9 win.
Tri-County 2, Windsor 0. ABBY SMITH (eight kills, two blocks), AMBER MEYER (18 assists) and AUTUMN MEYER (14 digs) led the visiting Titans to a 25-20, 25-23 win.
Oakwood 2, Chrisman 1. BRIDGET MATTINGLY had 10 digs and two assists for the host Cardinals in a 25-22, 19-25, 26-24 loss.
Mahomet-Seymour 2, Pontiac 1. ELISE DAHLKE had 12 kills, MASON MOORE had 21 assists and SIRENA WOO added 20 digs for the visiting Bulldogs in a 21-25, 25-20, 25-20 win. SOPHIE CHRISTIANSON added six blocks.
Shiloh 2, Heritage 0. BETHANY McGINNESS’ had nine assists and three digs, leading the visiting Raiders to a 25-15, 25-13 win. LEXIE MINOTT (two blocks) and LAUREN MOSES (two aces) each had four kills.
Prairie Central 2, Rantoul 0. MADDIE BOUNDS had nine kills and three blocks in leading the visiting Hawks to a 25-15, 25-22 win. LOGAN HONEGGER added 14 digs and SHANIA SCURLOCK dished out 20 assists. Rantoul got eight kills and four blocks from HANNAH WASCHER.
Bismarck-Henning 2, Hoopeston Area 0. ABBY BERGMAN had three aces, six digs, two kills and four blocks, leading the host Blue Devils to a 25-10, 25-19 win.
Schlarman 2, Armstrong-Potomac 0. MORGAN ZINDARS had six assists and eight digs for the visiting Trojans in a 25-8, 25-17 loss.
Salt Fork 2, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 0. BRITTON SEAMAN had five kills and three blocks to lead the host Storm. KALYN LEARNARD had 12 digs.
St. Joseph-Ogden 2, Momence 0. SHELBY SIMMONS (five kills, four digs, three aces, two blocks) led the way for the host Spartans in a 25-18, 25-18 win. NICHOLLE BROWN contributed seven kills, and SYDNEY STONE had 21 assists.
Atwood-Hammond 2, Arcola 1. TAYLOR EDWARDS had seven kills and 13 digs for the host Purple Riders in the 25-20, 12-25, 25-17 loss.
Paxton-Buckley-Loda 2, Watseka 0. KAILEY KLEINERT had 11 kills and KAYLA COWAN had 32 assists to lead the visiting Panthers to a 28-30, 25-20, 25-17 victory. Watseka’s KAT GRIMES had 15 assists and eight digs.
Clinton 2, Unity 0. MORGAN HICKMAN (18 assists, 17 digs), TAYLOR FILKIN (six kills) and HALEY GINGER (12 digs) led the visiting Maroons to the 25-9, 25-21 win.

In cross-country
At Danville. Hoopeston Area’s MADDIE BROWN (20 minutes, 59 seconds) won the girls’ Vermilion Valley Conference race, 14 seconds ahead of Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman’s CASSIDY BAUGH at Kennekuk Park in leading the Cornjerkers to the team title. G-RF/C’s MEGAN McKEE was third, and Hoopeston Area’s HANNAH BRAY was fourth.
At Danville. Schlarman’s JESSE HAHNE won the Vermilion Valley Conference boys’ race, with a time of 15:52, 19 seconds ahead of Oakwood/Armstrong-Potomac’s JON DAVIS. O/A-P’s EMERSON GREY was third. Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman won the team title, led by fifth-place WYATT AVENATTI.

In soccer
Hoopeston Area 2, Mahomet-Seymour 1. BRENNAN CROSE and ANDREW SAMET each scored goals for the visiting Cornjerkers. M-S got a goal from ANDREW SHROYER.

In tennis
At Urbana. LAUREN NEITZEL, ALLISON HANSEN and SHELBY QUIGLEY each won singles matches 6-0, 6-0 for Centennial in an 8-1 win against St. Thomas More at Atkins Tennis Center.
