Wednesday's prep highlights: Urbana blanks Centennial
In boys’ soccer
■ Urbana 5, Centennial 0. Dann Musasa had two goals and Gesi Muharremi had one goal and three assists for the host Tigers, who also received goals from Saul Downie and David Anderson.
■ Danville 7, MacArthur 0. Dakota Gash had a goal and three assists and Gracson Torres had two goals and an assist for the host Vikings (8-4-3).
■ Champaign Central 5, Charleston 0. Emmanuel Komba had two goals and two assists for the visiting Maroons.
■ At Iroquois County tournament. Burl Gillespie carded a 37 to win medalist honors for second-place Watseka. Kameron Wilken (38) finished second for third-place Iroquois West. Donovan won the boys’ team title.
In the girls’ meet, Drew Grimes (43) was the medalist for second-place Watseka. Desiree Medina (47) was the runner-up for first-place Iroquois West.
■ At Forsyth. Medalist Mitchell Hockman shot a 37, leading Mahomet-Seymour to first place at Hickory Point.
■ At Clinton. Medalist Chandler Bollman had a 39 in St. Thomas More’s victory against Clinton and Tri-Valley at Clinton Country Club.
■ At Champaign. Champaign Central’s Hannah Wright finished first in 18 minutes, 28 seconds, leading the Maroons to a 21-37 girls’ victory against Danville. Sadie Elliott (19:03) paced the Vikings.
In the boys’ race, Ashton Hyatt was first in 16:04, lifting Central to a 19-45 victory.
■ At Rossville. Alyssa Pridemore placed first in 20:31, leading St. Joseph-Ogden to a 19-37 girls’ victory against Hoopeston Area at Christman Park.
In the boys’ race, Braydon Crozier (17:27) edged teammate Matthew Knipfer by seven seconds, lifting the Spartans to a 15-50 victory against the Cornjerkers.
In girls’ tennis
■ Central 6, GCMS 3. Maddy Chalifoux won at No. 2 singles, leading host Champaign Central to victory. Carson Arends won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles for Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley.
■ Centennial 8, Urbana 1. Lauren Neitzel (No. 1 singles) and Teresa Boerma (No. 3 singles) did not lose a game for the visiting Chargers.
In swimming & diving
■ At Urbana. Urbana’s Gabi Rajic won two individual events (500-yard freestyle and 100 breaststroke) and was part of the winning 400 free relay, but the Tigers lost to Normal Community at a dual meet at the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center.
