In volleyball

Armstrong-Potomac 2, Hoopeston Area 0. The host Trojans cruised to a 25-14, 25-16 Vermilion Valley Conference win. Sarah Porter (10 kills, eight digs, four aces), Maddie Buhr (eight kills, three blocks) and Madi Gayheart (12 assists) sparked A-P (10-5) against the Cornjerkers (0-11).

Blue Ridge 2, LeRoy 0. Maddy Hopkins collected 15 kills, Avery Fisher came through with 25 assists and Hannah Brackenhoff made 23 digs, lifting the visiting Knights (18-3) to a 25-15, 25-9 Heart of Illinois Conference win. Kea Miles paced LeRoy (2-10) with three kills.

Centennial 2, Peoria 0. Hannah Luchinski finished with 12 service points as the host Chargers won 25-3, 25-5 in Big 12 action. Leah Luchinski added 10 service points, five aces and five assists for Centennial (6-10).

Cerro Gordo 2, Villa Grove 0. The visiting Broncos received five kills apiece from Sydney Walker and Anna Peter to go along with nine assists from Ella Mann and four blocks from Riley Brandenburg in a 25-17, 25-19 road win for Cerro Gordo (6-10) against the Blue Devils (3-9).

Champaign Central 2, Normal West 0. Mira Chopra and Rachel Hurt each had seven kills as the host Maroons snapped a two-game losing streak with a 25-14, 25-16 Big 12 triumph. Brittany Anglin (14 assists) and Maranda Day (10 digs) also chipped in for Central (15-7).

El Paso-Gridley 2, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 0. Jessica Freehill had two kills and Mady Schutte had four assists, but the host Falcons lost 10-25, 12-25 in Heart of Illinois Conference play.

Fieldcrest 2, Fisher 0. Shelbee Owens managed eight kills and Casey Wagner contributed nine digs, but the host Bunnies lost 21-25, 15-25 in HOIC play. Cameron McGrew added seven assists for Fisher (2-11).

First Baptist 2, Illinois Central Christian 0. Mattie Bumpus delivered 13 kills and Ashley Snook made eight kills to spark First Baptist (10-6) to a 25-10, 25-10 home win.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm 2, Chrisman 0. Kasie Anderson produced eight kills, Willow Ray wasn't far behind with seven kills and Georgetown-Ridge Farm rolled to a 25-11, 25-12 road win in VVC action. Lacey Steinbaugh (20 assists, five aces) pitched in as well for the Buffaloes (10-3) in their sweep against the Cardinals (0-6).

Hartsburg-Emden 2, Prairie Central 1. The host Hawks lost 13-25, 25-13, 17-25 in nonconference action. Olivia Weber led Prairie Central (7-4) with 11 kills and Faith Bachtold made 21 digs.

Mahomet-Seymour 2, Effingham 1. The visiting Bulldogs held on for a thrilling Apollo Conference win, outlasting the Flaming Hearts 22-25, 25-23, 28-26. Savannah Matthews finished with 16 kills for M-S (10-8), while Sam Hites added six kills. Kayin Garner (30 assists), Maddy Livingston (11 digs), Hannah Buzicky (10 digs) and Chloe Henkel (10 digs) each played a key part in the win.

Mattoon 2, Rantoul 0. The visiting Eagles fell 10-25, 13-25 in nonconference action. Bree Davis and Emily Schluter each compiled three kills for Rantoul (4-15) and Gillian Gawedna had nine assists.

Milford 2, Schlarman 0. The Bearcats went on the road and emerged with a 26-24, 25-22 VVC win at Shebby Gymnasium. Emily Duis (12 kills, two blocks, 18 digs) and Kaylee Warren (21 assists) sparked Milford (11-4). For the Hilltoppers (4-5), Janie Gross and Aleksas Dietzen each had four kills.

Normal Community 2, Danville 0. The host Vikings lost 8-25, 11-25 in Big 12 play. Kayla Liggett had two kills for Danville (4-12), while Kelsey Wendell made 14 digs.

Oakwood 2, Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 0. The host Comets extended their win streak to four matches while ending the Blue Devils' four-match win streak with a 25-18, 25-9 VVC victory against BHRA (8-4). Katelyn Young (seven kills) and Brenna Durst (five kills) led the offense for Oakwood (11-3), while McKenzie Doan (eight assists) and Kelsey Blackford (seven assists) chipped in. Emily Meidel (three kills) and Danielle Duncan (three blocks) paced BHRA.

Peoria Notre Dame 2, Urbana 0. The host Tigers lost 8-25, 22-25 in Big 12 action. Raevyn Russell and Bella Halleach had three kills for Urbana (1-11).

St. Thomas More 2, Argenta-Oreana 0. The visiting Sabers won their eighth straight match, defeating A-O 25-13, 25-23. Kayla Brandon had four kills and five digs, while Haley Love added two kills for STM (15-2). Mikayla Kirkland and Amaya Fox each finished with three kills for the Bombers (8-9).

Sangamon Valley 2, Arthur Okaw Christian 1. Lillian Messmore finished with eight kills and Lindsey Mast and Keisha Miller each had 11 digs, but AOC lost 20-25, 25-20, 15-25 on the road.

Shelbyville 2, Tuscola 0. The host Warriors lost 15-25, 11-25 in Central Illinois Conference action. Karli Dean (seven kills) and Cassie Russo (four kills) led Tuscola (5-4).

Tri-County 2, Paris 1. Ali Smith dropped in 15 kills, Julia Robertson handed out 24 assists and Kayleen Hunt made four blocks to spark the visiting Titans (11-3) to a 24-26, 25-16, 25-14 victory.

Tri-Valley 2, Ridgeview 0. The visiting Mustangs (6-13) lost 10-25, 17-25 in HOIC action despite five kills from Kelly Jones and 26 digs from River Rosales.

Warrensburg-Latham 2, Sullivan 0. Chloe Riley and Zoe Ray each had three kills, but Sullivan lost 12-25, 21-25 in a CIC road defeat.

Westville 2, Salt Fork 0. Riley Kinney put down 13 kills, Taylor Cox handed out 15 assists and Madison Brown made nine digs, helping the visiting Tigers (7-4) to a 25-14, 25-21 VVC win against the Storm (6-5).

In boys' soccer

Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 2, Hoopeston Area 1. Drew Reifsteck and Jaren Brandon each tallied a goal, lifting the host Blue Devils (6-7) to a Vermilion Valley Conference win. Ethan Smith scored the lone goal for the Cornjerkers (7-9).

Bloomington Cornerstone 2, Blue Ridge 1. Landon Magenheimer scored off an assist from Jace Dean, but the host Knights (10-6-1) couldn't secure the win.

Champaign Central 2, Bloomington 0. Judson Wagner and Santiago Rodriquez each scored a goal for the Maroons (6-8) in a Big 12 road win. Wagner and Reynaldo Zarco each had an assist, helping the Maroons snap a two-match losing skid.

Fisher/Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 4, Mt. Pulaski 0. The visiting Bunnies relied on three second-half goals from Tyler Ricks, all within a three-minute span, to help the Bunnies (9-3-2) pull away for the win.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Westville 3, Schlarman 2. Hudson Lenhart, Dalton Hamer and John Ashikyan each scored a goal to end a five-match losing streak for the Buffaloes (4-8) with a VVC road win against the Hilltoppers (0-8).

Mahomet-Seymour 11, Effingham 0. Austin Carr scored four goals, Callan Whitehouse added two goals and Ethan Mansfield wound up with two goals and two assists as the visiting Bulldogs (9-2-1) prevailed.

Momence 4, Watseka 0. Ethan Keller made seven saves for the host Warriors (2-12).

St. Anne 2, Iroquois West 1. The visiting Raiders tied the match at 1 after a goal by Jovanny Ayala, but IW (12-4) lost on penalty kicks after the match stayed tied through regulation and overtime.

St. Joseph-Ogden 3, Rantoul 2. The visiting Spartans (8-7-1) pulled out a win in penalty kicks. Garet Kinnett and Alexis Gordillo each scored a goal for Rantoul (4-8)

St. Thomas More 7, Olympia 0. The host Sabers ran their win streak to five straight after Joe Sellett scored three goals and teammate Joe Hoffman added two goals for STM (14-2-1) in an Illini Prairie Conference win.

Uni High 3, Centennial 0. Omeed Miraftab-Salo, Rahi Miraftab-Salo and Paul D'Angelo each scored a goal, propelling the visiting Illineks (13-2-1) to their fourth straight win. Noah Blue earned the shutout in net against the Chargers (5-6-1).

In boys' golf

At El Paso. Prairie Central and Bloomington Central Catholic both shot a 316 during the Illini Prairie Conference Meet at El Paso Country Club, but the Hawks' fifth score of 87 posted by Austin Friedman allowed Prairie Central to win the tournament. Josh Kilcullen, Carter Nowak and Payton Dunahee all shot 78 to pace Prairie Central. Rantoul/Paxton-Buckley-Loda finished third. Trey VanWinkle's 79 and Chase Moore's 80 led the Eagles. Noah Wright of Monticello placed second with a 74, helping the Sages (336) place fourth

At Danville. Andy Bunton carded a 32 to garner medalist honors and lead Danville to a triangular win at Turtle Run. The Vikings posted a 168, also helped out by a 39 from Rylan Wolfe, to defeat Schlarman (193) and Urbana (198). Gabe Huddleston (46) led Schlarman and Jon Hebert (46) paced Urbana.

At Danville. Tri-County won a triangular with Westville and Paris as Logan Richardson shot a 36 to win medalist honors for the Titans, who shot a 181. Nick Pinter from Westville (211) shot a 38 to lead the Tigers.

At Danville. Milford beat Salt Fork 183-203 in a dual match at Wolf Creek. Brady Marshino (42) paced the Bearcats. Jakob Althaus led Salt Fork with a 47.

At Arcola. Villa Grove/Heritage defeated Arcola/Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 167-190 in a dual match at Kaskaskia Country Club. Elijah Richards from VG/H and Jacob Butler from Arcola were co-medalists with a 39, while Tristan Harrison of VG/H and Dallas Sisk of Arcola/ALAH each carded a 40.

At LeRoy. LeRoy defeated Heyworth 163-199 in a dual match at LeRoy Country Club. Caleb Poindexter won medalist honors with an even-par 36 for the Panthers, while Michael Morgan finished with a 39.

At Sheldon. Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley beat Watseka 167-202 in a dual match at Shewami Country Club. Clay Bane earned medalist honors for GCMS with a 37. Lukas Ball shot a 41 to pace Watseka.

At Onarga. Blue Ridge beat Iroquois West and Fisher in a triangular at Shagbark Golf and Country Club. The Knights produced a 170. Sam Duggins and Aaron Jayne both shot a 42 for Blue Ridge. Justin Kuipers led IW (190) with a 44, while Sean Ward shot a 43 to post the low score for Fisher (228).

In girls' golf

At El Paso. Alaina Bowie of St. Thomas More took home individual first-place honors with a 3-under 68 and STM won first place at the Illini Prairie Conference Meet at El Paso Country Club. The Sabers compiled a 330, 21 strokes better than Bloomington Central Catholic. Kait Asklund (75) placed third, while teammates Maeve Kirby (93) and Sammy Miller (94) all factored into STM's team score.

At Mattoon. Champaign Central placed second in a triangular with Mattoon and Sullivan at Meadowview Golf Course. The Maroons carded a 189, three strokes behind Mattoon. Mia Hayasaki (41) sparked Central.

At LeRoy. Megan Woltkamp and Meredith Hogue each shot a 50 for LeRoy, but Eureka won 191-222 at LeRoy Country Club.

At Sheldon. Watseka knocked off Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 195-207 in a dual match at Shewami Country Club. Summer Cramer took home medalist honors after carding a 44 for the Warriors. Megan Moody led GCMS (48).

At Onarga. Taylor McTaggart earned medalist honors with a 42 to help IW compile a 196. Fisher (209) received a 50 from Sidney Hood and Lauren Trimble carded a 51 for Blue Ridge (249).

In boys' cross-country

At Urbana. Uni High won a triangular at the UI Arboretrum as Aryan Lalwani won the race in 17 minutes, 31 seconds. Noah Woods from Tuscola (18:44) placed sixth, helping the Warriors to a second-place finish.

At Hoopeston. Trey Houmes of Hoopeston Area placed first in a time of 17 minutes, 18 seconds, helping the host Cornjerkers place second in a five-team meet.

In girls' cross-country

At Urbana. Arielle Summitt led Uni High to a triangular win at the UI Arboretum, with Summitt placing first in 19 minutes, 1 second. Payne Turney from Clinton was third (21:23) as the Maroons placed third. Brynn Tabeling from Tuscola wound up eighth (22:54) for the runner-up Warriors.

In girls' swimming

At Champaign. Ally Miller won the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 7.90 seconds and River Jones placed first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.95, propelling Champaign Central to a 99-85 win against Centennial at Unit 4 Pool. Isabelle Seten in the 50 freestyle (25.22) and 100 freestyle (56.51) and Elizabeth Gile in the 200 individual medley (2:21.92) and the 100 butterfly (1:03.28) won two events apiece for Centennial.

In girls' tennis

At Champaign. St. Thomas More beat Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 8-1 at Atkins Tennis Center, with Mia Stipes, Noelle Schacht, Sophia Sobeski and Stella Green all winning 6-0, 6-0. Mady Price and Bailey Salyards won 8-5 at No. 3 doubles for GCMS.

At Champaign. Danville defeated Centennial 7-2 at Lindsay Courts. Erin Houpt, CeCe Strader, Sami Christison and Sabrina Hantz all won in straight sets for the Vikings in singles. Madison Scaggs at No. 1 singles and Mary Woods at No. 2 singles won for the Chargers.

At Urbana. Erin Wright won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, but Urbana lost 6-3 to Mattoon.
