Prep highlights: Urbana cruises to senior night victory

In boys' soccer

Class 1A St. Thomas More Regional: St. Thomas More 3, Oakwood/Salt Fork 0. Joe Hoffman came up big in the regional final, netting a hat trick with one goal in the first half and two more in the second. Nick Fruehling, JP Ridge, and Connor O'Mahoney all dished out assists for the Sabers, who outshot the Comets 14-0 for the game.

Class 1A Hoopeston Area Regional: Uni High 9, Schlarman 1. Rahi Miraftab-Salo chased down a through ball at the end line and beat three defenders before slotting the ball inside the near post to record his 100th career goal — the most in Uni High history. Paul D'Angelo scored three times for the Illineks, who led 6-1 at the half.

Class 1A Bloomington Cornerstone Regional: Bloomington Central Catholic 3, Monticello 1. The sixth-seeded Sages put themselves in position for an upset after going into the half tied 1-1 behind a goal from Jake Edmondson. The No. 2 Saints, though, scored a goal five minutes into the second half and another late to move on. Rye Johnson made 10 saves for Monticello.

Class 1A Williamsville Regional: Williamsville 3, Blue Ridge 1. Brendan Flannell scored the lone goal for the Knights on a pass from Landon Magenheimer. Dane Houser had 10 saves.

Class 1A Manteno Regional: Iroquois West 5, Bishop McNamara 4. The Warriors prevailed in penalty kicks.

Normal West 4, Danville 2.
Kevin Sanchez notched a pair of goals and Gage Moore had an assist in the Vikings' loss. Caleb Stout stopped eight shots.

Champaign Central 5, Peoria 1. Judd Wagner scored twice and Alex Wellens, Daniel Giger and Umar Sallah each tallied in the Maroons' weather-shortened win. 

Urbana 5, Peoria Richwoods 0. Lateef Bridgewater netted a pair of goals, scoring in each half on assists from Roman Mineyev, who also set up Logan Flessner. Magnus Parente and Bennett Anderson also scored on senior night.

ournament: Cissna Park 2, Dwight 0. Gabby Wessels' 12 kills and Anna Jennings' 27 assists powered the Timberwolves to a 25-11, 25-15 win. Jasmine Stock had 10 digs and Sloan Boyce notched six kills.

Watseka 2, Iroquois West 0. Kennedy McTaggart had seven kills and a block and Kennedy Bauer notched four kills, three aces and six digs for the Warriors in a 25-12, 25-20 win. Iroquois West received six kills and a block from Lauren Cultra. 

Watseka 2, Paxton-Buckley-Loda 1. Kennedy Bauer tallied another 15 kills and added 21 digs while Emily Bunting posted 25 assists, two blocks and an ace in Watseka's 25-17, 22-25, 30-28 win. Kalista Klann had 26 assists and 21 digs for the Panthers.

Paxton-Buckley-Loda 2, Clifton Central 0. Kalista Klann had 15 assists and four aces and Cassidi Nuckols picked up five kills and two blocks in the Panthers' 25-14, 25-12 win.

Clifton Central 2, Iroquois West 0. Rachel Carney had four assists, three kills and a block for Iroquois West.

Mica Allison's 10 kills and Hayes Murray's 13 assists helped the Sabers vanquish the Saints. Nakaya Hughes had another eight kills in the 25-18, 25-23 win.

Champaign Central 2, Danville 0. The Maroons won 25-13, 25-16 behind seven kills from Rachel Hurt and 21 assists and 10 digs from Brittany Anglin. Lauren Cox had three aces and four digs for Danville.

Mahomet-Seymour 2, Clinton 0. Savannah Matthews had 12 kills, 15 digs, two blocks and two aces in the Bulldogs' 25-16, 25-19 win. Kayin Garner tallied 30 assists and Ainsley Ranstead added 11 kills for Mahomet-Seymour. Madi Filkin notched nine kills, 11 assists, and six digs for the Maroons.

Oakwood 2, Chrisman 0. Brenna Durst led the way with 12 kills in a 25-3, 25-16 win. Kelsey Blackford contributed to the dominance with 14 assists, and Katelyn Young served up five aces and tallied four kills. 

Tri-County 2, Heritage 0. Ali Smith amassed 12 kills, Julia Robertson had five aces and Kaylenn Hunt notched four blocks in a 25-9, 25-11 win for the Titans.

Bismarck-Henning-Rossville-Alvin 2, Hoopeston Area 0. Grace Harris led the way with four aces, four digs and 11 assists. In addition, Ashley Clem had four aces, five digs and three kills as the Blue Devils won 25-13, 25-13. Payton Small tallied 13 digs and two kills for the Cornjerkers.

ALAH 2, Cerro Gordo 0. Taylor Powell served up seven aces and notched eight kills in a 25-18, 25-13 win for the Knights. Madison Brown had 17 assists, four digs, and two aces for the victors. Taylor Cherry had six assists, three digs, two aces, a kill and a block for the Broncos.

Blue Ridge 2, El Paso-Gridley 0. Blue Ridge prevailed 25-17, 25-15 behind 15 digs, 14 service points and a pair of aces from Hannah Brackenhoff, 17 assists from Avery Fisher and nine kills from Maddy Hopkins.

Schlarman 2, Armstrong-Potomac 0. Aleksas Dietzen notched 10 kills and seven assists, Janie Gross had five kills and two blocks andSchlarman emerged with a 25-23, 25-12 win. Madi Gayheart notched 17 digs, seven assists, three kills and a block for the Trojans.

Illinois Valley Central 2, Rantoul 0. Bree Davis notched five kills, Lindsay Jordahl managed nine digs and Gillian Gawenda dished out nine assists in the Eagles' conference loss.

Okaw Valley 2, Bement 1. The Bulldogs won the first set but ultimately fell 25-22, 18-25, 19-25. Hannah Foran raked in 31 digs, 15 blocks, nine assists and nine kills for Bement, while Shelby Strack had 32 digs.

Milford 2, Westville 1. Milford picked up a 25-11, 23-25, 25-13 win on the road. For the Tigers, Riley Kinney notched 12 kills, 13 digs, and four blocks.

Lexington 2, Fisher 0. Bailey Hadden notched two aces, three assists and nine digs in the Bunnies' 9-25, 24-26 loss.

St. Joseph-Ogden 2, Prairie Central 1. Abbi Burnett notched eight kills and 14 digs and Emory Erickson led the way with 11 kills for the Spartans, who won 22-25, 25-15, 27-25.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm 2, Salt Fork 0. Kasie Anderson led the Buffaloes with 10 kills, Raine Ray had three blocks and three kills and Cassandra Goodwin had five kills and three aecs in a 25-14, 25-21 win.

Unity 2, Monticello 0. Ella Godsell notched 11 kills, Jalyn Powell had six digs and two aces and Haley Glanzer dished out 13 assists in a 32-30, 25-19 win for the Rockets.Sophie Morrison finished with eight assists for the Sages.

Argenta-Oreana 2, Arcola 0. The Bombers picked up 12 kills and 16 digs from Amaya Fox and 11 kills, seven digs and a block from Kaitlyn Farrar in a 25-21, 25-20 win over Arcola.

Heyworth 2, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 1. Emily Lange had seven kills and four aces in the Falcons 18-25, 26-24, 17-25 loss.

Sullivan 2, Windsor-Stewardson-Strasburg 0. Sullivan tallied six kills in a 10-25, 10-25 loss.

Paris 2, Tuscola 0. Karli Dean notched 12 kills and three digs and Cassie Russo had three blocks, five digs and three kills in a 17-25, 26-28 loss for the Warriors.

Judah Christian 2, Arthur Okaw Christian 1. Judah Christian won 26-24, 27-29, 25-21 behind Kim Dillman's 30 digs, Ashley Bryant's 10 kills, and Lyndon Pelmore's 25 assists. Lillian Messmore had nine kills and 17 digs for the Conquering Riders.

In boys' cross-country

At Kickapoo. Trey Houmes won the Vermilion Valley Conference title in 17 minutes, 30 seconds, and Hoopeston claimed the team title with 48 points. Oakwood's Cameran Helka took second in 17:51 for second-place Oakwood.

In girls' cross-country

At Kickapoo. Lexi Darby won the Vermilion Valley Conference title and led Bismarck-Henning to the team championship in a time of 21:52. Teammate Aryn Willard took second in 22:55.

In girls' tennis

At Urbana. Mia Stipes, Delanie Tressler, Sophia Sobeleski and Stella Green didn't drop a game as St. Thomas More swept its way to a 9-0 win over Mahomet-Seymour. Caroline Waddell and Kayley Schacht also picked up singles wins.
