Athletes of the Week
DANVILLE — Football players on the state’s top-ranked class 6A football team are preparing for a Friday game just like they’ve done the past three weeks.
GCMS senior, Baseball
Recently: Helped the Falcons to a five-win week. He pitched an eight-inning, three-hit shutout (10 strikeouts) in a 1-0 win against Woodland-Flanagan-Cornell. He also hit a home run in a 4-0 win against Deer Creek-Mackinaw.
Champaign Central senior, baseball
Recently: had hits in 13 consecutive at-bats, a state record, which covered parts of four games.

My favorite band is ... Third Eye Blind.
My favorite athlete is ... Archie Manning.
My hero outside of athletics is ... Itch Jones.
If I were not competing I would be ... doing more with scholastic bowl.
Salt Fork junior, Basketball
Recent accomplishments: He scored a game-high 24 points in the Storm's sectional championship-game victory against Macon Meridian.
Quote: "It was a good night. I was hitting my shots after being in a bit of a slump, and my teammates had to carry the load."
