Kresca, Strang propel Maroons to win

CHAMPAIGN – Nick Kresca pitched five innings of no-hit ball in relief for Champaign Central in a 9-2 victory against Argenta-Oreana on Monday in prep baseball.

Cam Strang had two hits and five RBI. Eric Wilson added two hits, and Rob Smith had two stolen bases and three runs.

Centennial 10, Clinton 2. Bryan Wachtel pitched six innings, allowed three hits and struck out six for the host Chargers. Kaleb Wachala had two hits, including a home run, and three RBI. Wachtel added two hits.

M-S 5, Urbana 3. Nick Jachino pitched five innings and struck out four to pick up the win for host Mahomet-Seymour. Neil Wright drove in three runs and scored another. Adam Kirby had two hits and an RBI for the Tigers.

St. Thomas More 9, Monticello 6. Clayton Reiser had a triple and a double and Tyler Schweighart pitched five in-nings, striking out seven, to earn the win for the visiting Sabers. Dan Murphy and Dylan Ray added two more hits for STM.

Nick Fincham and Jared Thompson each had two hits for Monticello (7-2).

PBL 6, Armstrong-Potomac 4. Jarrett Thomas had two hits and notched the pitching win, giving up six hits and striking out three for host Paxton-Buckley-Loda.

Tri-Valley 13, Fisher 0. Jared Hayden doubled and Zach West singled for the Bunnies, but those were the only two hits for host Fisher.

CPCI 4, Rantoul 2. Cody Siebert pitched a complete-game four-hitter and Landon Reutter had three hits for the host Timberwolves.

LeRoy 13, Ridgeview 1. Ryan Koerner pitched six innings, gave up three hits and struck out 12 batters to pick up the win for the visiting Panthers. Koerner added three hits.

Arcola 13, Villa Grove 7. Cory Joergens had four hits and six RBI to help the visiting Purple Riders score nine runs in the last three innings. Beau Fishel had two hits, three runs and an RBI.

Blue Ridge 6, GCMS 3. Josh Lytel threw a complete game, giving up four hits, and Cole Patrick added two hits for the host Knights.

Arthur-Lovington 4, South Piatt 2. Andy Carver pitched three innings in relief and struck out seven to help visiting A-L. Carver also had two hits, three stolen bases and one RBI.

East Central 11, Cerro Gordo 2. Payton Judy had four RBI and Joe Essig pitched six innings, giving up seven hits and striking out two, for visiting East Central. Clay Godier and Zach Braden each had two hits for the Broncos.

Tuscola 14, Tri-County 1. Clayton Meyer had two doubles and a home run and Shaheen Shabrou added three hits, including a round-tripper, for the visiting Warriors.
