Urbana rallies to claim tourney

CHAMPAIGN – Urbana's girls' basketball team rallied to defeat Rantoul 44-29 Tuesday to win the Blue Star Country Classic championship.

Camille Parsons scored 16 for Urbana. The Tigers, who finished tourney play 5-0, trailed 17-13 at the half.

Destani Burton added 10 points. Parsons represented Urbana on the six-player all-tournament team.

Morgan Wood scored 14 for the Eagles (2-3), who placed Tracy Osby on the all-tourney team.

Britney Gallivan scored 10 points and had six assists as Monticello earned its first victory with a 44-24 win against Tuscola. Karli Harshbarger had seven rebounds.

Lindsey Troike scored 10 for the Warriors (0-5). Molly Romine of Tuscola was named to the all-tournament team.

St. Thomas More moved to 5-1 after a 53-35 victory against Danville. Gina Hinders had a career-high 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Sabers, while Alisa Carroll chipped in 11 points.

St. Thomas More's Katie Jean and Kassie Jones were placed on the all-tourney team.

Erial Davis scored 10 points for the Vikings (3-2).

McDonald's Comet Classic. Erin Downey's 18 points propelled Shiloh to a 55-30 victory against Hoopeston Area. Danielle Brown and Taylor Hawkins added 12 apiece for the Raiders.

Erin Henk led the Cornjerkers with nine.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm defeated Blue Ridge 33-25 behind 16 points from Linzy Houghtaling. Devin Houser paced the Knights with 10 points.

Chrisman hit seven three-pointers in a 51-31 victory against Heritage. Brooke Wolfe scored 19 to lead the Cardinals, who also got 10 points from Autumn Johnson.

Amy Martin scored 20 points and Chelsie Bartlett chipped in 18 in Oakwood's 63-33 victory against Urbana University High.

Rachel Skoza scored 10 for the Illineks.

Mount Zion Classic. Sandy Lambert scored 12 points as Centennial opened the season with a 56-40 loss to Mount Zion.

Mendy Morrow and Ariel Moore added seven points apiece.

Iroquois West 62, A-P 32. Ashley Morris' 22 points led the visiting Raiders (3-2), who outscored Armstrong-Potomac 24-9 in the second quarter. Riley Schroeder added 18. Kara Carter scored 14 for Armstrong-Potomac.

St. Teresa 48, Cerro Gordo 34. Kelsi Wright scored 14 points in the Broncos' road loss. Kayla West added 11.

Oblong 43, Tri-County 33. Chelsee Blair scored 12 points in Tri-County's road loss. Melanie Clapp chipped in nine points, eight rebounds and three assists.

Watseka 72, St. Anne 30. Katie Cowan had 19 points and 12 rebounds in the Warriors' road win.

Dakota Bohlmann scored 16 second-half points for Watseka (5-2).

In wrestling:

At Bismarck. Bismarck-Henning got eight victories by pin in a 66-16 victory against Schlarman.

At Tolono. Brandon Ward won by fall in 2:38 at 189 pounds to lead Champaign Central to a 62-14 victory against Unity.

At Cayuga, Ind. Westville got wins from Zach Martin, Devin Hathaway, Justin Moore, Josh Giuliani and Corey Dicken in a 51-25 loss to North Vermillion.
