White, McNeil lead Urbana past Central
CHAMPAIGN – Jasmine White's four hits powered Urbana's 15-hit attack as the Tigers defeated Champaign Central 9-5 Monday in prep softball. Sheena McNeil added three hits. White knocked in four runs for the Tigers (7-13). Reba Perry and Brittany Likens added two hits.
Monica Rondon had two hits, including a triple, for the Maroons.
Danville 16, Centennial 1. Mackenzie Stevenson pitched a three-hitter for the visiting Vikings. Katie Phillips was 3 for 4 for the Vikings, and McKenzie Hodges added two hits and four RBI.
Bismarck-Henning 13, Armstrong-Potomac 0. Frankie Shoaf homered and pitched a one-hitter to lead the host Blue Devils (8-10). Hannah Ohl added two hits and three RBI.
Unity 2, Clinton 1. Ana Deters scattered six hits to get the win for host Unity (7-14). Deters and Ali Finn had two hits.
GCMS 10, Ridgeview 8. Kaiti Bowen's bases-loaded double drove in the decisive runs in the 11th for the visiting Falcons (10-2). Desiree Mouser had four hits and Bowen three.
Maroa-Forsyth 7, St. Thomas More 3. Brooke Schmidt was 3 for 4 and Taylor Alexander had two hits for the visiting Sabers.
Argenta-Oreana 5, Fisher 0. Jenna Allen struck out 13 as the Bombers won on the road. Natalie Stoerger and Kayla Koehler had two hits.
LeRoy 1, Heyworth 0. Sarah Hintz struck out 25 of the 51 batters she faced and Mary Hintz's fielder's choice drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 15th inning for the Panthers (11-4).
Olympia 14, Mahomet-Seymour 2. Elizabeth Nielsen went 2 for 2 for the host Bulldogs (5-22).
El Paso-Gridley 6, Blue Ridge 2. Jordan Wheeler had two hits while striking out 10 in the loss.
South Piatt 6, Sangamon Valley 4. Shelby Lust pitched a one-hitter, striking out 17, and Amy Chromchak and Shelby Gallivan added two hits apiece for the visiting Wildcats (11-4).
Heritage 8-14, Villa Grove 3-1. Rebekah Rothermel and Katie Rutledge had three hits apiece as the host Hawks completed the sweep. Heather Luth and Alex Danner collected two hits in the opener.
Arcola 12-13, Martinsville 1-0. Holly Henry had three hits and three RBI in the opener, and Mackenzie Thomas homered and drove in four runs in the nightcap for the host Purple Riders.
Salt Fork 8, Westville 5. Brittany Hoag sparked the host Storm (13-8) with three hits and three RBI. Mallory Weber added three hits.
Schlarman 10, Hoopeston 4. Mariah Skaggs improved to 12-0 with a four-hitter, and Casey Cromwell homered for the host Hilltoppers (17-3-1).
Okaw Valley 21-1, Cerro Gordo 7-4. The host Broncos split behind Beth Pickerill's three-hit, nine-strikeout pitching. Haley Witts had two hits and two RBI.
In girls' track and field:
At St. Joseph. The victorious Spartans swept the distance relays and Jolee Paden took the 1,600 meters against Urbana, Centennial and Central.
At Terre Haute (Ind.). Destiny Carter won the 800 and Mandisa Dantzler took the high jump as the Vikings placed second in the three-team meet.
In boys' track and field:
At Terre Haute (Ind.). David Groves (110 hurdles), Anthony Bacoat (100), Tejuan Jackson (200), Keith Mayfield (shot put) and Cameron Ford (discus) won for second-place Danville.
