Blackman goal lifts Tigers past Vikings

URBANA – Adam Blackman's goal in the 50th minute snapped a tie and sent Urbana to a 2-1 boys' soccer victory against Danville on Tuesday.

Danville's Dennis Forrest opened the scoring on an assist by Mitchell Killough in the first half.

Urbana evened it on a goal two minutes later from Jon Lukusa. The Tigers' Julian Threlkeld made nine saves.

Hoopeston/Bismarck-Henning 1, Mahomet-Seymour 0. Travor Rush's first-half goal from Kraig Vanwieringen proved decisive for the visiting Cornjerkers. Winning keeper Tyler Davis made 11 saves.

Judah Christian 3, Blue Ridge 1. Jason Mills scored twice as the host Tribe improved to 5-0. Tyler Malone scored for the Knights (7-1-1).

Salt Fork/Westville 2, St. Joseph-Ogden 2. Marcus Hack's goal in the second half propelled the Spartans (0-4-1) to the tie. Colton Parr scored twice for Salt Fork/Westville.

St. Thomas More 3, Oakwood 2. Timo Rohrig scored twice and Tyler Johnson chipped in two assists for the host Sabers (4-1). Oakwood (2-4-2) got goals from Conner Youhas and Kegan Decker.

Fisher/GCMS 3, Urbana Uni 2. Chase Kelley scored twice and Gabe Venegas added a goal to lead host Fisher/Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley.

Schlarman 5, Unity 2. Refugio Guerrero had two goals and Weston DePratt added a goal and two assists for the visiting Hilltoppers.

Watseka 1, Kankakee McNamara 1. The visiting Warriors scored in the first half on Todd Lyznicki's goal from Josh Douglas.

In boys' golf:

At Arcola. Ian Connor shot 4-over 39 as Arcola-Arthur defeated Charleston and Tuscola at Kaskaskia Country Club.

At Savoy. Robb Cozad and Nate Overman shot 39s to lead Centennial past Monticello and LeRoy on the UI Blue Course.

At Bloomington. Nick Thompson's 36 was good for third place and helped Urbana defeat Mattoon while finishing behind Bloomington at Highland Park Golf Course.

At Sheldon. Andy Partin and Tyler Moews shared medalist honors with 41s to lead Bismarck-Henning past Watseka, Donovan and Westville at Shewami Country Club.

At Decatur. Champaign Central beat Rantoul and Decatur Eisenhower behind medalist Riley Brunson's 38 at Hickory Point Golf Course.

In girls' golf:

At LeRoy. LeRoy's Molly Marcum (47) was medalist in a quadrangular at LeRoy Country Club.

In girls' tennis:

Urbana 8, St. Thomas More 1. The host Tigers swept the doubles matches, getting victories from Katarina Marjanovic-Elise Ellinger, Miranda Facer-Anastasia Peters and Christina Helregel-Samantha Echavez.

Danville 7, Mattoon 2. Melissa Fuesting, Emma Peck, Bethany Sexton and Stephanie Rollins collected singles wins for the visiting Vikings.

In girls' swimming:

At Champaign. Karli Jackson (500-yard freestyle) and Audrey Rodawig (100 backstroke) each won an individual event while swimming on two victorious relays as the Chargers defeated Springfield 101-85.

In boys' cross-country:

At LeRoy. Paxton-Buckley-Loda's Tom Pacey (15:58) took first against Tri-Valley, Clinton and Cornerstone.

At Danville. St. Joseph-Ogden swept the top nine spots, led by Zach Elkins (17:32) against Oakwood and Salt Fork at Kickapoo.

In girls' cross-country:

At Danville. Oakwood's Ciara Pierce (19:39) placed first in a dual meet against victorious St. Joseph-Ogden.

In volleyball:

At Urbana. Mariah Burgess collected six kills and Molly Facer added 13 assists as Urbana dumped Decatur MacArthur 25-10, 25-10.

At Gilman. Iroquois West defeated Tri-Point 25-14, 25-20 behind four aces from Hilary Zirkle.

At Atwood. Shelby Helfrich had 12 kills as Atwood-Hammond beat Villa Grove 25-14, 25-20.

At Westville. Emily Taylor had 14 assists but Westville fell to Armstrong-Potomac 25-12, 25-15.
