Offense busts loose as Bishop, Sages roll

FISHER – Brett Winterbottom, Drew Schumacher and Drew Bishop each scored twice as Monticello beat Fisher/Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 9-0 Monday in prep soccer.

The Sages (6-2-1) also got goals from Thomas Atkins, Jacob Hanselman and Zach McCall. Tyler Mumm had seven saves for his fourth shutout.

Salt Fork 4, Unity 1. Thomas Jordan had a goal and an assist for the visiting Storm. Colton Parr, Clayton Hawkins and Brodie Pirie also scored.

BCC 5, Blue Ridge 4. Tyler Malone scored twice in the Knights' home loss.

Iroquois West 5, Grace Baptist 1. Tony Ochoa had two goals for the visiting Raiders. Giovanni Vergara, Julian Martinez and Manny Diaz also scored for IW (2-3-1).

In girls' golf:

At LeRoy. Molly Marcum's 46 led LeRoy to a dual win against the St. Thomas More JV at LeRoy Country Club.

At Decatur. Lizzy Dombroski was medalist (40) as Centennial won a triangular at Scovil. Madison White shot a 44.

At Grant Park. Kari Clark shot 52 to lead Iroquois West in a loss against Grant Park at Minne Monesse Golf Club.

At Farmer City. Medalist Amber Tsevelekos shot 47 for Blue Ridge, but the Knights fell to Tri-Valley by 9 strokes.

In boys' golf:

At Danville. Greyson Pasco shot 2-over 38 at Danville Country Club to lead Schlarman past Judah Christian.

At Villa Grove. Arcola/Arthur's Ian Connor earned medalist honors with a 2-under 33. Ben Harned led victorious Villa Grove with a 38.

At Sheldon. Watseka defeated Prairie Central by 6 strokes behind medalist Zach Guenette's 40 at Shewami Country Club.

In volleyball:

At Westville. Jessica Allhands and Katie Cowan had eight kills apiece in Watseka's 25-12, 25-22 win. Kloie McCann collected 26 assists.

At Moweaqua. Tara Phelps' 10 kills and five blocks led Cerro Gordo past Central A&M 25-12, 25-22. Stefanie Gaitros added eight kills and eight blocks. Haley Witts collected 20 assists.

At Monticello. Alex Pelmore (eight kills, four aces, four digs) and Audrey Aeilts (nine assists, eight digs) sparked Champaign Central to a 25-23, 25-10 win against the Sages. Hannah Smith had five blocks and three kills for Monticello.

At St. Joseph. Josey Fruhling and Bria Olson had five kills in St. Joseph-Ogden's 25-16, 25-11 victory against Unity. Shelby Geers added five blocks.

At Milford. Emma Boyd's six kills propelled Milford to a 25-18, 25-18 victory against South Newton (Ind.). Jessica Cann chipped in five blocks and Colleen Quigley added four aces.

At Oakwood. Shawneis Jones had seven kills and two blocks but Danville fell to Oakwood 25-12, 23-25, 25-22.

At Gibson City. Haley Pence had seven kills in Iroquois West's 20-25, 25-22, 25-19 loss to Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley.

At Catlin. Megan Pratt had four digs in Villa Grove's 25-4, 25-10 loss to Salt Fork.

At Arthur. Katie Davis (12 kills), Hannah Davis (six digs) and Katie Chapman (12 assists) led Arthur to a 25-21, 25-19 win against Sullivan. Tabitha Davis had five kills and six digs for the Redskins.

At Paxton. Cori Harris' six kills and six aces helped Centennial (8-0) remain unbeaten with a 25-12, 25-23 victory against Paxton-Buckley Loda. Melanie Moore had 15 assists. PBL got 11 assists from Kelsey Stagen.

In tennis:

Central 5, Mattoon 4. Maria Vozovoy and Bailey McClellan won at No. 3 doubles for the visiting Maroons. Kathleen Rowland, Nelli Golmeeva, Samantha Emery and Vozovoy posted singles wins.

Danville 8, St. Thomas More 1. The Vikings rolled to straight-sets victories in five singles matches in the home win, led by Melissa Fuesting's 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2.
