Moore, Chargers top rivals

CHAMPAIGN – Melanie Moore had 17 assists and five digs as Centennial rolled past rival Champaign Central 25-7, 25-15 on Tuesday in prep volleyball.

Morgan Leach added six kills for the Chargers.

At Bismarck. Courtney Reinken had seven kills and Alexis Walsh four blocks in Bismarck-Henning's 25-23, 25-15 victory against Armstrong-Potomac. Kourtney Newell had 12 assists for A-P.

At Tuscola. Anne Frye had eight kills in Tuscola's 25-21, 24-26, 25-16 loss to Argenta-Oreana.

At Decatur. Bailee Dunlap collected six kills and five aces for Judah Christian, which beat Decatur Christian 25-11, 25-17.

At Mahomet. Emma Cabutti had six kills in Mahomet-Seymour's 25-10, 25-19 loss to Normal U-High.

At Atwood. Stefanie Gaitros had seven kills and six blocks as Cerro Gordo stopped Atwood-Hammond 25-10, 25-10.

At Chrisman. Mandi Bianchetta's seven kills powered Schlarman to a 25-14, 25-20 victory against Chrisman. The Cardinals' Paige Thevenin had six kills.

At Fithian. Heather Baker had 20 kills and 11 blocks to lead Salt Fork past Oakwood 17-25, 25-19, 25-19.

At Farmer City. Danielle Thompson and Kaitlyn Zelhart had six kills apiece in Blue Ridge's 25-13, 25-23 loss to Deer Creek-Mackinaw.

At Hoopeston. Kelsey Norton had five kills and Jenna Zollar added 10 assists in Hoopeston's 15-25, 25-23, 25-23 loss to Milford.

At Danville. Jessica Greer had 11 kills to lead First Baptist to a 22-25, 25-3, 25-19 win against Pekin Baptist.

At Westville. Westville got 20 assists from Lauren Kirkpatrick in a 25-11, 25-13 victory against Georgetown-Ridge Farm. Erika Briggs had seven digs for G-RF.

In boys' soccer:

Oakwood 5, Salt Fork/Westville 0. Kegan Decker tied the school record with his 11th goal of the season, and keeper Ben Schmit tied the school mark with his fifth shutout for the visiting Comets. Logan Cronk added two goals.

Mahomet-Seymour 4, Mount Zion 2. Michael Brooks' two goals and an assist propelled the visiting Bulldogs. Caleb Tonkinson and Levi Marsh added second-half goals.

Centennial 1, Danville 1. Centennial's Brent Loth scored on a rebound in the 47th minute to produce the tie in Champaign. Blake Janesky scored in the first half for the Vikings, who got 12 saves from Corey Pichon. Centennial's Andy Drackley made eight saves.

Hoopeston/Bismarck-Henning 5, Iroquois West 0. Ian Park had two goals and two assists and keeper Tyler Davis recorded his 10th shutout for the visiting Cornjerkers. Matt Benjamin also scored twice.

St. Thomas More 7, St. Joseph-Ogden 0. Timo Rohrig scored twice and Robert Schlorff earned his third shutout of the season for the host Sabers.

Central 0, MacArthur 0. Champaign Central and Decatur MacArthur played 80 scoreless minutes in Decatur.

Blue Ridge 7, Mount Pulaski 0. Kevin Price had five goals and Mark Eckhoff posted his seventh shutout for the visiting Knights.

In girls' tennis:

Danville 6, Centennial 3. Bethany Sexton (No. 3) and Stephanie Rollins (No. 4) earned singles wins, then teamed to post a three-set victory at No. 2 doubles for the visiting Vikings.

Mattoon 5, Urbana 4. The visiting Green Wave won the final doubles match to earn the victory despite singles wins from Katarina Marjanovic, Alison Shapira and Stacy Peters.

In girls' swimming & diving:

At Champaign. Champaign Central defeated Centennial behind Hannah Newman's wins in the 100-yard butterfly and 200 individual medley.

In boys' cross-country:

At Hoopeston. Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman's Matt Avenatti (17:04) defeated Paxton-Buckley-Loda standout Tom Pacey (17:16) in a four-team meet won by G-RF/C.

At Clinton. Urbana Uni High's Albert Anastasio (17:08) and Nathan Smith (17:09) finished 1-2 for the victorious Illineks.

In girls' cross-country:

At Hoopeston. Hoopeston's Belinda Cohen and Lauren Houmes finished 1-2.

At Clinton. Winner Theresa Welle zipped home in 20:52 for victorious St. Thomas More in a four-team meet.

In boys' golf:

At Clinton (Ind.). Salt Fork's Sawyer Howe shot 36 for medalist honors at Geneva Hills Golf Course against Chrisman and Hoopeston.

At Savoy. Nate Overman shot 36 on the UI Blue to lead Centennial in a 4-stroke defeat against Lincoln.

At Mahomet. Mahomet-Seymour defeated Champaign Central and Olympia behind medalist Garrett Cox's 36 at Lake of the Woods.

At Moweaqua. Nick Huisinga fired a meet-best 36 at Moweaqua Golf Course in Monticello's victory against Meridian.

At Danville. Nick Thompson's even-par 36 led Urbana past Danville and Schlarman at Turtle Run Golf Club. Schlarman's Greyson Pasco was medalist with a 34.

In girls' golf:

At Mattoon. Champaign Central edged Mattoon by 4 strokes as Jane Choo shot 48 at Meadowview Golf Course.

At Sheldon. Emily Bailey shot 46 in Watseka's loss to Grant Park at Shewami Country Club.

At Bloomington. Molly Marcum shot 48 for victorious LeRoy at Highland Park Golf Course.

At Farmer City. Amber Tsevelekos (43) was medalist in Blue Ridge's win against Olympia at Woodlawn Country Club.
