Youhas, Comets roll

HEYWORTH – Conner Youhas scored twice Monday to lead the Oakwood soccer team to a 5-1 victory against Heyworth, its fifth straight win.

The Comets (7-4-1) also got goals from Logan Cronk, Kegan Decker and David Tuggle.

Watseka 6, Salt Fork/Westville 2. Senad Zeneli scored three times for the visiting Warriors and Brede Parker added two. Colton Parr had two goals for Salt Fork/Westville.

Judah Christian 8, Decatur Christian 0. Alex Berry had three goals and keeper Chris Huggett earned his fifth shutout for the host Tribe (10-0).

Meridian 4, Unity 3. Eric Wenzel scored twice for the Rockets, but Meridian scored the decisive goal with 17 seconds left in the Okaw Valley tournament.

In volleyball:

At Paxton. Abbey Spicer and Taylor Rubarts had eight kills apiece to lead Paxton-Buckley-Loda to a 25-8, 25-15 victory against Armstrong-Potomac. Kasey Sanders added six aces.

At Gilman. Riley Schroeder had five kills and Hilary Zirkle chipped in 12 assists in Iroquois West's 25-14, 25-18 win against Kankakee Grace Baptist.

At Georgetown. Mariah Coleman had eight kills and Erin Weinke added six aces to lead Heritage past Georgetown-Ridge Farm 25-18, 25-23. Karson Gragert had four kills and seven digs for the Buffaloes.

At Hume. Shelby Graves and Taylor Hawkins collected five kills apiece in Shiloh's 15-25, 25-23, 25-22 victory against Tuscola. Anna Frye had six kills for the Warriors.

At Champaign. Morgan Buerkett had 10 kills and seven blocks while Becca Millage chipped in nine kills as St. Thomas More defeated Unity 25-15, 25-13.

At Monticello. Monticello got 11 kills and 12 digs from Julie Walsh in a 23-25, 25-17, 25-19 victory against Bement.

At Urbana. Megan Lowry had six kills and five blocks in Arthur Okaw Christian's 25-17, 25-22 win against Urbana University High. Tuli Bera had six kills for the Illineks.

At Milford. Chelsea Doud had four blocks, but Milford fell to Donovan 25-19, 25-19.

At Watseka. Katie Cowan's 11 kills and 10 blocks propelled Watseka to a 25-22, 25-18 victory against Fisher. Rachel Kelley collected six kills for the Bunnies.

At Springfield. Mariah Burgess had seven kills and seven blocks as Urbana beat Springfield Southeast 25-13, 25-15. Kate Strikant added 13 assists.

In girls' golf:

At Mahomet. Mahomet-Seymour's Charlotte Goss shot 47 and Allison Murphy added a 48 in a quadrangular at Lake of the Woods Golf Course.

At Onarga. Iroquois West's Kari Clark (43) was medalist at Shagbark Golf Club, but Milford took team honors, led by Kylee Dombrowski's 46.

At Savoy. Champaign Central's Jane Choo shot 46 to place second in the Maroons' 12-stroke loss against Charleston.

At Urbana. Medalist Kelsey Gallivan shot 42 at Stone Creek Golf Club to lead St. Thomas More past Watseka.

At Bloomington. Molly Marcum fired a 46 in LeRoy's 9-stroke loss against Bloomington at Highland Park Golf Course.

In boys' golf:

At Danville. Bismarck-Henning's Tyler Moews and Stephen Krout fired 41s at Harrison Park to lead the Blue Devils past Westville and Shiloh.

At Onarga. PBL's Brock Peavler earned medalist honors with a 41 at Shagbark. Iroquois West beat Milford and PBL behind Kyle Pool's 42.

At Savoy. Centennial defeated Rantoul as Kirk Logue shot 39 and Ryan Hunt 40 on the UI Blue Course.

At Arcola. Arcola/Arthur's Brock Miller shot 38 to finish as the runner-up in a four-team meet at Kaskaskia Country Club.
