Bushue gives it his best
Leads Chargers past Bulldogs; Davis sharp again
MAHOMET – The Centennial Chargers scored four first-half goals en route to a 5-3 nonconference victory against Mahomet-Seymour in boys' soccer play Thursday.
Indiana commitment Jacob Bushue had two goals and two assists for Centennial, while teammate Ben Flodstrom contributed three assists.
Joel Clark scored twice for the Bulldogs.
Hoopeston/B-H 5, G-RF 0. Goalkeeper Tyler Davis extended his streak of shutouts to eight as Hoopeston Area/Bismarck-Henning won Thursday at Georgetown-Ridge Farm.
Davis' shutout was his 11th of the season. Matt Benjamin scored twice and had an assist for the Cornjerkers (12-2-1). Ian Park added a goal and an assist.
STM 5, Salt Fork/Westville 1. Tyler Johnson had two goals and two assists in St. Thomas More's road victory.
Travis Johnson contributed a goal and two assists to the win.
Schlarman 2, Oakwood 1. Ranan Carniero scored an unassisted goal in the second half to break a tie in the Hilltoppers' road victory. Schlarman improved to 8-3-1.
Blue Ridge 5, Watseka 0. Kevin Price scored three goals, all unassisted, and Mark Eckhoff recorded five saves in the Knights' road victory.
St. Teresa 2, Monticello 0. Tyler Mumm had two saves in the Sages' loss in the Okaw Valley Conference tournament at Decatur.
In boys' golf:
At Champaign. Nathaniel Khachaturian shot a 1-under-par 35 to lead St. Thomas More to victory against Schlarman at Champaign Country Club. Greyson Pasco of the Hilltoppers finished second with a 37.
At Villa Grove. Austin Prosser and two teammates finished in the top five, leading Villa Grove to a 5-stroke victory in a three-team meet at Tri-City Country Club.
Prosser shot a 39 to share medalist honors with Brock Miller and Ian Connor of Arcola/Arthur.
At LeRoy. Kevin Clore shot a 40 and Cody Warmoth a 41 to lead Fisher to a 4-stroke victory in a three-team meet at LeRoy Country Club.
At Pontiac. Mahomet-Seymour won a scorecard playoff with Streator for the title of the Pontiac Indian Scramble at Pontiac Elks Country Club. The Bulldogs and Streator each finished with 58 points in the 15-team tournament.
In girls' golf:
At Normal. Kathryn Ikenberry shot a 46 for Champaign Central, which finished third in a four-team meet at Ironwood Golf Course. Lonni Fredrickson carded a 49 for the Maroons.
At LeRoy. Molly Marcum finished fourth with a 48 for LeRoy, which lost by 27 shots to El Paso-Gridley at LeRoy Country Club.
