CHAMPAIGN – Lauren Drennan and Sunny Strader each won two individual events and swam on a pair of first-place relays to lead Danville to victory in a three-team girls' swimming and diving meet Tuesday at Unit 4 Pool.
Drennan captured the 50-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly, while Strader finished first in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke. Eden Jackowski joined Strader and Drennan on the Vikings' winning 200 medley and 400 free relays.
Laurie Jefferson won the 100 free and swam on the first-place 200 free relay for runner-up Centennial.
Milee Nelson won the 200 and 500 freestyles for third-place Urbana University High.
At Champaign. Melanie Moore's 14 assists and four aces led Centennial to a 25-11, 25-13 victory against Danville.
At Urbana. Mariah Burgess had six kills and four blocks for Urbana in a 25-14, 26-28, 25-20 loss to Mattoon.
At Champaign. Esther Kemper had 15 digs for Champaign Central in a 25-17, 25-19 loss to Normal West.
At Buckley. Chelsea Kendall had seven digs and three blocks for Christ Lutheran in a 25-17, 25-12 loss to Decatur Lutheran.
At Westville. Bismarck-Henning defeated Westville 25-21, 25-19 behind Courtney Reinken's seven kills and Alexis Walsh's five blocks. Kayla Bryant had 12 kills and Morgan Ritchie 10 digs for Westville.
At Champaign. Chumin Gao had 11 digs and Michelle Wong contributed 16 assists in Urbana University High's 25-21, 4-25, 25-23 victory against Judah Christian.
At Cerro Gordo. Stefanie Gaitros had 11 kills and Morgan Neissle added 12 digs for the Broncos in a 25-7, 25-4 victory against Villa Grove. Megan Pratt had eight digs for Villa Grove.
At Pontiac. Emma Cabutti had seven kills and 10 digs for Mahomet-Seymour in a 26-24, 27-25 loss to Pontiac.
At Arcola. Ruthie Wheelock belted 15 kills for Lovington in a 23-25, 26-24, 25-23 loss to Arcola.
At Maroa. Chelsee McMahan had five kills and Tabitha Davis six digs for Sullivan in a 25-10, 25-11 loss to Maroa-Forsyth.
At Lexington. Val Mouser had six kills and Sydni Meunier contributed nine digs in Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley's 25-22, 25-22 loss to Lexington.
At Shelbyville. Julie Walsh barely missed a double-double with nine kills and 11 digs for Monticello in a 25-23, 25-19 loss to Shelbyville.
At Georgetown. Serena Calhoun's eight kills and 14 digs led Schlarman to a 25-5, 25-7 victory against Georgetown-Ridge Farm.
At Atwood. Shelby Helfrich had 13 kills and Britney Wierman contributed five blocks for Atwood-Hammond in a 25-21, 25-18 victory against Shiloh.
At Fithian. Amy Martin's 19 kills and four aces propelled Oakwood to a 25-9, 25-20 victory against Milford. Carly White had five blocks for Milford.
At Chrisman. Brooke Wolfe had eight kills, three blocks and two aces for Chrisman in a 15-25, 25-21, 25-14 victory against Armstrong-Potomac.
At Warrensburg. Rachel Cunningham led Unity to a 21-25, 25-9, 25-23 victory against Warrensburg-Latham with 14 kills and three blocks.
At Bethany. Jenni Romack had six kills for Bement in a 25-19, 25-22 loss to Okaw Valley.
At Oakland. Tri-County handed Arthur its first Little Okaw Valley loss, 25-11, 25-18. Kendra Kauffman had seven digs for the Knights.
At Moweaqua. Taylor Brunner had eight kills and eight digs for Argenta-Oreana in a 23-25, 25-17, 25-20 loss to Central A&M.
At Tuscola. Sam Kohlbecker had two kills and one ace for Tuscola in a 25-7, 25-8 loss to St. Teresa.
At Farmer City. Led by Taylor Rubarts’ 10 kills and Kelsey Stagen’s 22 digs, Paxton-Buckley-Loda defeated Blue Ridge 25-23, 21-25, 25-13. Danielle Thompson had eight kills and three service aces for Blue Ridge.
In girls' tennis:
At Champaign. Allison Hansen and Maria Mears each won a singles match and combined for a victory at No. 1 doubles for Centennial in a 6-3 loss to Normal Community.
Hansen captured the No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-3, and Mears won at No. 2 singles 7-6, 6-2. The Charger duo combined for a 6-2, 7-5 doubles victory.
In boys' soccer:
Monticello 2, Blue Ridge 2. Blue Ridge (15-3-2) rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to tie the host Sages on unassisted goals by Kevin Price and Jonathan Malone. Jacob Hanselman and Thomas Atkins scored for Monticello (9-3-2).
Hoopeston/B-H 2, Oakwood 0. Trevor Rush had a goal and an assist to back goalkeeper Tyler Davis' 12th shutout of the season for host Hoopeston Area/Bismarck-Henning.
Unity 5, St. Thomas More 3. Brandon Taylor scored two goals and CJ Webb had two assists for the host Rockets.
St. Teresa 2, M-S 1. Brennen Kraft scored for visiting Mahomet-Seymour, which outshot St. Teresa 25-11.
Schlarman 5, Salt Fork/Westville 0. Adam Pellegrini had two goals and an assist for the Hilltoppers.
Iroquois West 2, Grant Park 2. Giovanni Vergara and Ed Reyes scored for IW at Gilman.
In boys' cross-country:
At Danville. Oakwood/Armstrong-Potomac's Leighton Elliott won in 19 minutes, 20 seconds in an unscored dual meet against Schlarman.
At Tolono. Adam Crutchley of Villa Grove won the individual title in 16:57, and Unity rolled to the team crown in a three-school meet. Runner-up Austin Kramer led a parade of Rockets runners that swept the next four spots after Crutchley. Sean Kelley was St. Thomas More's top finisher, sixth overall.
At Rantoul. The Eagles edged Paxton-Buckley-Loda 26-29 as Matt Hazel, Nick Cole and Chris Hazel swept the second through fourth spots. Tom Pacey of the Panthers won in 17:15, two seconds ahead of Matt Hazel.
In girls' cross-country:
At Danville. Ciara Pierce of Oakwood/Armstrong-Potomac placed first in 19:50 in an unscored dual meet against Schlarman.
At Tolono. Theresa Welle and Lizzie Anderson of St. Thomas More finished 1-2 in a four-team meet won by Tuscola. Laura Knight led the champion Warriors and was third overall, one second in front of teammate Lisa Ponder.
In boys' golf:
At Sheldon. Bradley Crabtree fired a 34 to tie the Watseka school record and earn a 7-stroke victory at Shewami Country Club. The Warriors finished second in the four-team tournament, 3 shots behind Beecher. Tyler Loffinville shot a 46 to lead fourth-place Milford.
At Fairmount. Ryan Anderson won medalist honors with a 36, leading Salt Fork to a 37-stroke victory against Schlarman in a dual meet at Blue Needles Golf Course. Jordan Danzl finished 1 shot behind teammate Anderson. Alex Muehl led the Hilltoppers with a 44.
At Decatur. Clinton Brubaker of Monticello won medalist honors in a one-hole playoff after shooting a 77 in the Okaw Valley tournament at Scovill Golf Course. The Sages finished second to St. Teresa by 2 shots in the team standings.
