GIBSON CITY – Seth Trolia (74) tied for the low score and Mahomet-Seymour placed Adam Guth (80), Grant Dukeman (80) and Garrett Cox (81) in the top 10 to capture the Corn Belt Conference championship Saturday at Railside Golf Course.
At Normal. Normal Community edged Centennial in a sudden-death playoff to capture the Unit 5 Best Ball tournament at Ironwood Golf Course. Centennial's Robb Cozad and Peter Black (72) and Urbana's Ben Thompson and Henry Bethke were among the twosomes that tied for fourth.
In girls' golf:
At Gibson City. Randal Bernthal's 99 was good for 11th as M-S placed fourth in the Corn Belt tournament.
LeRoy 37, Red Hill 0. Eric Steffen ran for 106 yards and three touchdowns for the visiting Panthers. Zach Morrison also scored three times, including a fumble recovery in the end zone and a 27-yard blocked punt return.
In boys' soccer:
Normal West 3, Danville 2. Jose Tapia scored in the first half and the host Vikings (5-7-4) added an own goal in the second half.
Urbana 3, Urbana Uni 1. Adam Blackman, Jerae Murphy and Victor Hernandez scored as the host Tigers (7-6-2) prevailed.
Normal C. 6, Mahomet-Seymour 0. John Kennedy made nine saves for visiting M-S.
Schlarman Invitational. The host Hilltoppers (13-3-1) won all three matches, including a 1-0 victory against Teutopolis on Jerardo Guerrero's goal in the second half.
In girls' swimming:
At Peoria. Audrey Rodawig won the 100-yard butterfly in 1 minute, 2.01 seconds for Centennial in the Peoria Richwoods Invite.
At Buckley. Michelle Wong was named the MVP, leading Urbana Uni to the championship of the four-team Buckley Christ Lutheran tournament.
In boys' cross-country:
At St. Charles. Centennial, paced by fourth-place Ryan Root (3 miles in 15:55), took fifth in the 11-team St. Charles North Invite. The Chargers' Evan White (16:18) was 10th.
In girls' cross-country:
At St. Charles. Centennial's Neli Crawford was seventh (19:47) and Audrey White (19:56) 10th in the St. Charles North Invitational.
