MONTICELLO – Steve Schroeder earned a decisive victory in the boys' Okaw Valley Conference cross-country race at Lodge Park, leading the Sages to the team title.

Schroeder covered the course in 16 minutes, 29 seconds, finishing 21 seconds in front of runner-up Clayton Baker of Shelbyville. Monticello's Luke Zocher (16:57) was fourth, and Alex Furcich (17:12) took ninth.

The Sages (34) finished well ahead of runner-up Sullivan (64), led by third-place Cameron Harvey (16:55).

In girls' cross-country:

Okaw Valley meet. Monticello's Kelsey Hardimon finished third in 19:03 in the OVC meet at Monticello. Haley Briggs of Argenta-Oreana was fifth (19:24).

Decatur St. Teresa was the team champ. Monticello placed third.

In volleyball:

At Bismarck. Bismarck-Henning remained unbeaten in the Vermilion Valley Conference with a 20-25, 25-11, 25-14 victory against Salt Fork. Courtney Reinken had 13 kills and two blocks for the Blue Devils (17-2, 11-0 VVC). Alexis Walsh added five blocks.

At Farmer City. Kaitlyn Zelhart had eight kills and two blocks to lead Blue Ridge past Flanagan-Cornell 25-23, 25-18.

At Paxton. Taylor Rubarts and Kasey Sanders had six kills in Paxton-Buckley-Loda's 25-14, 25-21 victory against Cissna Park. Kelsey Stagen added 11 digs.

At Broadlands. Heritage got 10 kills and four blocks from Mariah Coleman in a 25-20, 25-20 win against Atwood-Hammond.

At Chrisman. Shelby Ross had 20 assists and Paige Thevenin added nine kills to help Chrisman (19-5) rally past Westville 17-25, 25-14, 25-8. Jocelyn Kindred finished with six kills and two aces. Shelby Porter had three kills.

At Milford. Serena Calhoun's six kills paced a balanced attack as Schlarman stopped Milford 25-11, 25-7. Sarah Barrett and Emily Schiro added four kills for the Hilltoppers (19-3). Bri Thomas had 13 assists and four aces.

At Downs. Kailey Roberts collected five kills in Fisher's 25-10, 25-17 loss to Tri-Valley. Olivia Downs had 11 digs while Taylor Jean chipped in seven assists for the Bunnies.

At Arcola. Cerro Gordo beat Arcola 25-18, 25-21 behind Stefanie Gaitros' nine kills. Tara Phelps chipped in five kills and three blocks, while Morgan Neissle added 10 digs. Haley Witts added 15 assists for the Broncos.

At Tuscola. Sam Kohlbecker had 15 assists and Taylor Turner contributed six kills in Tuscola's 25-20, 13-25, 25-20 victory against Central A&M. Lauren Hunt had four kills and Lindsay Troike contributed four blocks.

At Oakland. Tri-County, behind Sadie Baird's seven kills and Hilary Stiff's four aces, downed Okaw Valley 25-14, 25-9.

At Decatur. Alex Pelmore (seven kills), Mariah Thomas (six) and Esther Kemper (11 digs) led Champaign Central past MacArthur 25-15, 25-14. Audrey Aeilts added 11 assists.

At Monticello. Taylor Brunner collected eight kills and Alex Stupek had 11 assists in Argenta-Oreana's 17-25, 25-21, 25-18 victory against Monticello. Julie Walsh led the Sages with 10 kills. Kristyn Barrett added 16 assists.

At Tolono. Dani Gooch and Jessie Spencer each had 12 assists in Unity's 25-16, 25-16 loss to Decatur St. Teresa.

At Rantoul. Paige Harms had six kills and Carson Heidebreder 10 assists but Rantoul fell to Bloomington Central Catholic 25-23, 25-20. Harms and Tina Aguirre had 11 digs.

At Gilman. Haley Penco had six blocks in Iroquois West's 25-13, 25-15 loss to Watseka. Hilary Zirkle contributed seven assists and Karlyn Wilken added nine digs.

At Villa Grove. Bement defeated Villa Grove 25-18, 25-10 despite 11 digs from the Blue Devils' Megan Pratt.

At Sullivan. Rachel Pollock had five kills and Paige Neuhauser chipped in 10 assists in Sullivan's 25-11, 25-11 loss to Clinton. Tabitha Davis had three kills and Nicole Yoder added four digs.

At Normal. Corrie Magrini had eight assists as Mahomet-Seymour suffered a 25-7, 25-13 loss against Normal U-High.

At Fairbury. Abby Popejoy had 11 kills and Whitney Scurlock added nine as Prairie Central defeated Pontiac 26-24, 23-25, 25-17.

At LeRoy. Kailey Howes had seven kills and Emily Schopp 17 assists to pace LeRoy to a 25-21, 25-23 victory against Fieldcrest. Jorgia Hanlin added eight digs for the Panthers.
