Belyea, M-S notch first win
MAHOMET – Freshman Kristin Belyea scored a game-high 14 points and grabbed four rebounds to lead Mahomet-Seymour to its first win of the season, a 45-31 triumph against Urbana on Monday in girls' basketball action.
Kelsie Donley added eight points and Hillary Veitch scored six for the Bulldogs (1-5).
"It was a good game," M-S coach Nathan Seal said. "Urbana cut it to one and we finished on a 15-2 run."
Whitley Pearson led the Tigers with 11 points. Kalie Kirby finished with nine for Urbana.
Unity 53, Argenta-Oreana 32. Dani Gooch scored a game-high 16 points and added seven assists to lead the visiting Rockets. Lauren Grubb added 12 points and seven rebounds for Unity (5-1), which also got 11 points and seven boards from Nicole Keenan.
LeRoy 57, Dee-Mack 50. Molly Marcum scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds to power the host Panthers. Ashley Walker added 12 for LeRoy.
DeLand-Weldon 50, Decatur Christian 8. Mikayla Jones scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed six rebounds for the visiting Eagles. Brielle Jones scored 15 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds for DeLand-Weldon.
Momence 45, CPCI 39. Taylor Redeker and Haley Dodd each scored 12 points for the visiting Timberwolves.
Paxton-Buckley-Loda 43, Clifton Central 32. Kasey Sanders scored 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the host Panthers. Aubrey Luebchow added 14 points, three assists and four steals.
Tuscola 38, Shelbyville 23. Raechel Buckner scored a game-high 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the host Warriors. Lindsey Troike had eight points for Tuscola, which got nine steals from Sam Kohlbecker.
Decatur Lutheran 49, Judah Christian 46. Uzuri Williams had 14 points, eight rebounds and four blocks for the visiting Tribe in a losing effort. Laura Jarrett added 13 points for Judah.
Watseka 76, Tri-Point 39. Katie Cowan scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the host Warriors. Erin Cowan added 19 points at seven boards for Watseka (6-2).
At Westville. Tre Williams (119 pounds), Andrew Duckworth (160), Andrew Miller (215) and Trae Ford (285) all recorded pins for Danville in the Vikings' 51-19 win against Westville/Salt Fork. Westville/Salt Fork won a dual against Schlarman thanks to pins by Zach Moody (112), Justin Moore (135), David Hutson (145), Sam McDowell (160), Brandon Dixon (171), Cody Davis (215) and Trae Ford (285).
